Well I do not have any jewelry, just a watch. I keep looking for the pot of gold that is supposed to be at the end of every rainbow, but I never seem to be able to catch it. I expect that good quality jewelry is worth keeping, as it will always increase in value. However do not get too much, as like the Queen of England, she has so much jewelry that she has to keep it in the Tower of London with hundreds of Guards watching over it day and night.

I am actually not a big jewelry person. I wear my engagement and wedding rings, a pentacle around my neck, and 4 earrings in my ears. But that is about it. Sometimes I add a watch or interesting rings to this but for the most part, I just wear "fun" jewelry. If I had the money though, buying certain types of jewelry could be a good investment.

Thanks for your response. Fancy or fun jewelries are nice, especially if they go with your dress. I have a few pieces of real jewelry though, and they have helped me during times of financial crisis because I was able to pawn them. Thanks for your comment.

yes to some extent. gold fetches u the market price whenever u sell them,if it is hallmarked. but it should not be taken as a sole investment.

Thanks. I only have small pieces of them and are handy in case of emergency coz I am able to pawn them, I don't need to borrow money from relatives or friends and be ashamed, especially if I cannot pay on time.

jewellery is a good investment indeed especially in years to come and if they are made of precious metals and stones. I still have my grandfathers gold ring which is now valued at £4.000 but I wont ever sell it.

jewelery - 4 rings yellow glod & white gold
I love jewellery but don't have much as it was stolen i replaced it but it was stolen again . I have just recently started to buy myself some more. I layby it and pay it off little by little.I have found a really good reputable jeweler and they know me now so let me take longer to pay for more expensive items. I always get a valuation certificate with it and the first few pieces i bought i had an independent valuation made and the values matched so i knew the jeweller was trustworthy. One of the last item si bought was a yellow gold bracelet 18ctwith a filigree gold heart, it was valued at $2,600 i paid $1250 so it was a good buy then just before Christmas i put a princess cut diamond ring on layby it was valued at $4,750,i paid $2,700 so again another good buy,my husband picked it up for Christmas for me as he didn't know what to buy me.Now i can go and see if there is anything else i want that is on sale. I don't buy for investment just what i like. I always buy yellow gold as white gold looks too much like silver and i don't like silver and why spend heaps on white gold when you could pay a quarter or less for silver.

I like jewellery, but I am not sure if it is a good investment. I know my bosses wife buys really expensive jewellery, so I think they would be great investments to her, and I am sure if you had insurance and stuff on them it would be great as well, because if they got stolen, you would get a fair bit back from them! So I am not sure on this topic, sorry!

You would get money back if you had insurance, but that wouldn't mean it's an investment. That's still only equal value (in a best case scenario). And it'd still be a loss because you have to pay for insurance. You wouldn't be making money, you'd be losing.

Gold jewellery - Gold jewellery
Oh I love jewellery..gold as well just plain fashion jewellery. I do spend a lot on gold jewellery and definitely think its an investment(but not the only one). What with the gold prices rising like crazy, the gold I have is gonna fetch a good price. :)

I like jewelry, but I never buy jewelry as an investment. I don't expect to sell something later, I only buy it because I like it. For example, Tanzanite is very popular and I could have bought some pieces for significantly less than they're worth about a year ago. But Tanzanite just doesn't appeal to me much at all. I dislike the color and I don't think it's durable enough. So I didn't buy it. And I'm not sad now that I didn't, because I still don't like it. However, I suppose if you wanted to buy for investment, buying the loose gemstones would be smarter. If I was alive during the whole Paraiba tourmaline thing when it was cheap, I would have wished I bought some. However, I think that is a very pretty gemstone, so I probably would have also kept some for myself and had it made into jewelry.
