The style of country music has changed over the years and you no longer find artists doing pure country like you heard in the good old days from Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams and the like. Do you think this new style is good or bad? Do you think classic country will totally fade away?

i think there are a few that still have the old sound. Josh Turner for one. I do think country has changed, but not in a bad way. The older stuff will always be here. But the new stuff is what is getting more younger people to listen. I do not think classic country will fade away. There are too many of them still doin the old stuff.

Country music has changed, however so has all music, just look at how raps evolved over the last 10 years. Country music will never stray completely away from its routes, however I am liking the direction some new artists such as The Corb Lund band and Big & Rich are choosing too take. It is such an interesting addition to country, it should almost be called alternative country. But singers such as Travis Tritt, Tracy Byrd, Tim Mcgraw and A LOT of local singers here continue to play and produce new "classic" country.

To me Big & Rich are not country at all. It's just another sound and it really doesn't fit in to the country scene. Even Tim, Tracy, Travis, etc. are a bit on the alternative side of country. Sure, Tim can do some classic stuff but not all of his music is like that. Thanks for adding your views on this subject!

Country music has been sounding more like pop for years. And, I think, if it didn't do that, it would have faded away years ago.

I agree with you somewhat. I don't think it would have faded totally away but, the new trend did keep the industry alive. Sometimes things change with the environment and I definitely think this is the case. You have to sell something appealing and that the public will buy. I do think that the artists that are still doing classic country are also doing well. Afterall, their music is unique by today's standards.

Only time will tell! I do think there will be even more changes in the future. Look at rock. You don't see "classic rock and roll" any more, hence the new name "classic". Thanks for your comments!

I have been thinking that some of it has been returning to the old sounds. I grew up listening to my mom singing the old time country ,while she cleaned, and going to country concerts. For the last several years, I thought the sound had strayed from the older stuff. But with some of the newer singers, I thought I was hearing some reconnection to the older sound.

Yes country music has changed over the years and it will continue,to encompass an broader audience is has to change as with rock. I still enjoy country music,Josh Turner and Randy Travis are some of the ones who still sind the tradional type songs that tell a story . I love Three Wooden Crosses by Randy and Long Black Train by Josh Turner to me they are just good ole country...

I love country music, I grew up with Tammy Wynette, Jonny Cash, Merle, all the oldies! In my opinion country music evolves with the times. You can still hear the old time country music in the songs that are song. Country will never die! I really love the blue grass music and sometimes, you can still hear it in the songs today. If you listen to country stars give interviews, they all say the older country inspired them. Country music always tells a story about a life happening. It can get you right in the heart! It can bring you up when your feeling down! It can make you think about things in an awesome way. It gives you strength sometimes to carry on. Country Lives!!!!

I don't think the old classics will ever fade away and the newer music and artists are adding to the "purity" as far as I can see. There is so much going on in the world and the performers are coming out with more and more concerning our country and troops and doing an awesome job at it too.
