Wife of James Browns kicked out of house. Why?

Brown, 73, died at an Atlanta hospital Monday. After his death, Hynie, 36, found the gates to the singer's home padlocked and said she was denied access. Now this woman has a 5 year child with Brown and she was married before, but had it annulled. She said she could prove she was married to Brown. What would make anyone lock a woman and her child out of a home she had been in for the last 6 years or more. Browns attorney said she had a house not far from Browns house so why didn't she go home? Is it being rented out? Does she really have a house? When celebraties die it is always a big mess don't you think so?

I think the best thing for anyone contemplating betrothing a celeb is to sign a pre-marriage property agreement.! Was just watching Season On of 80's soapie Dynasty (on DVD), and saw part where Crystal is made to sign a "pre-marriage agreement" by Blake Carrington's lawyer, Andrew Laird. One funny part was when Blake's daughter, Fallon, explains to the bewildered Crystal that it's like what the Bible says, "You brought nothing into this world, so you won't take anything out." Crude, but that is the reality. Marry a celeb (esp women) but make sure to sign an agreement before putting on the ring. It's sad that it turned out that way to The Godfather's widow. I guess there is more to come. His daughters, remember those squabbles he had with them and consequently changing his will and the like?

Well, if they did not have a legal marriage, and he did not name her as his heir, then she is out of luck. Even if he named her, his family can contest as long as she is not legally married to him. He should have been smart enough to prepare for his partner and young child. Especially with his lifestyle, he knew there was a chance he would not be around for too much longer. I know this is way off base from the discussion, but this is why so many homosexuals are fighting for the legal right to marry. This is what happens to them when they have spent their lives with someone and they die, and their partner has no legal rights what so ever. I would have thought that James Brown would be considered common law married to this woman, but the laws are different in each state. I feel for her because she did stick it out with him through all of the B.S. he put her through. Not many women would have. Not me.

We always seem to get one side of the discussion. That is why I like MyLot;we get different sides. My thoughts are that IF she does have a house nearby, then was the reason she was trying to get in was to prove ownership in an upcoming battle for Brown's estate? Was she useing the child as a pawn to get sympathy? Was this timed to look good for her? There are many questions to answer. On the surface,it looks cut and dry.

I feel sad about what happened on his wife he should not do that to her for the wife still has the right on the house as conjugal property.

well if she was married to him she should have access to the house, unless in his will he did not leave it to her. it's only a mess when they die because it goes into the news, but i am sure there are messes when other people die that are not famous but we just never hear about it.

It seems that he abused her quite a bit. I remember that he ended up in jail because he hurt her once before. It was probably her idea to move out and only visit him. Since they were not legaly married she will have to wait until the will is read. She probably is not on title for that house.

I think when you are a celebrity sometimes just to live up to the expected status takes its toll on you and you really are under a lort of debt. wuth Jamesd brown's past its not surprising that he had lewft her with mismanaged finances. I am not suire how much he was educated but may be tahts the cause of this mess. Porr lady but if feel very soon we will hear she is marrying someone else as its cvery easy to finmds a shoulder to lean on when you are that famous.

I don't know about Georgia law, but the states I've lived in, if you resided at a house/place, had your belongings there, you have to be evicted from that residence, can't just be barred entry-married, not married, family, not family doesn't matter. I've known and seen a lot of people that have tried to throw out a disruptive family member from their homes. Call the police, it's a civil matter because the person was allowed to reside there. So, being as a lawyer was behind all this, I'm guessing there's more to the story then what's being told-which I'm sure we'll all find out soon enough lol.

I don't know much more than what I saw on tv with an interview with the woman. Apparently she married someone for like 24 hours before and thought that she had it legally broken until now, when it seems that people are trying to put a block on her from getting any of James Brown's assets. It's another scandal type news story and sad, really

Who is denying her access to HER own house? This doesn't make sense. I'd get my own lawyer if I were her. She should stay at another house for the time being.

Money makes people crazy. They lose their sense of humanity. That's one positive of being broke I guess!

When that lady "married" James Brown she was still technically married to her other husband so it wound up being null. Once she and James realized this she got a divorce but they never actually remarried. I feel bad because it sounds like she has no where to go while his will is sorted out. I think she and her kid[s] is staying with a friend. It's all legal craaap having to do with the rich and famous.

She was locked out probably because she is not his wife, legally, and the tax people want to divide his estate up. If she had married him or lived in a state that recognized common law marriage, she would have recourse.

I agree it is always a big mess, but it is a shame that someone is not looking out for the child's interest.that child and his mother has to have a place to live.if that is where she had been living for the last 6 years, she should be able to have access to it,I think that sometimes they do that stupid stuff to people just for the publicity.I think that the poor woman has already been through enough.I hope that they will do the right thing by her.

I saw on the news that she was not legally married to Brown because she was still married to somebody else when she married Brown. Than she got a divorce but failed to marry Brown again in order to make it legal. What a mess.
