I don't know if anyone else does this, but I always like to play a gag on my son he is 15 now, both on x-mas and his B-day. I will always have a gift that will make him think what the heck. Like this x-mas, he has been asking me for a PSP game system, so I did get it for him, however I took the game out of the box and put in a can a pop with a piece of paper that said "You asked for a PSP, so here is your PSP (and in very small letters i put the word box after PSP). I wrapped it up and put it under the tree. So when he tore the wrapping off he got all exicted and was all happy, until he opened it and just looked at me wondering what the heck. But he started laughing, and asked for the actual game, I quess I have been doing it to him so long that it don't work anymore. But in the end we will talk about it years later and laugh at the face he made when he first realized he has been had. I think it brings us closer. Anyone else that does something similar?

As long as you both enjoy this game I think it is great! He will have stories to tell his grandchildren long after you are gone about how funny his mom was! My mom used to buy stuff at garage sales all year long and wrap all the items in the same hideous paper. On Christmas morning she would tell us the garage sale fairy brought it. When she passed away we were reminicing about all the funny stuff mom did and my brother brought that up. He said "You had to be really careful not to look at any item too long or pick it up to examine it because you would end up with it under the Christmas tree. (By the way, this was in addition to our regular gifts.) It was not a surprise to be going home on Christmas morning with a giraffe lamp and a macaroni wig. HAHA It sure beats normal life! Keep up the good work!

My mom always did that and its cruel and funny at the same time lol... now if u didnt actually have the game system yes, it would be pretty wrong but since u have it for him who cares.. I bet when he is older and has kids he's gonna do the same thing.. so keep on having fun :) its like something special for u and him, its sweet.

Yes I agree it would have been very rodden of me if I did not have it, I even did feel a little guilty at first, but I knew he was getting it all along, I have told him, he secretly like me doing this and will do this to his onw children, which he just responded to "whatever" but I know him to well he just a goofball like me...lol Thank you for your input.

LOL!!! I think that that is so cute. I love the game that you play with your son, and it sounds like it still gives you both something to laugh about even though he has gotten to the point where he expects it. I think that I would have enjoyed it if my parents had done something like this with me. It is just another way to build up suspense for the real present, as well. Plus, it's a lot more interesting than just having him ask for something and get exactly what he asked for right away. There's very little surprise in that! *laugh* ^_^
