Do you belive that we spoil our children too much? Do we treat them more like adults then children? I belive yes, we give them way too much and expect way too much out of them. I remember when as a child we had to work for the things we wanted. We earned an allowance and then we bought the toys and stuff we wanted with the money. This made me appreciate my things more. What do yall think?

My kids have to buy their own stuff too (except for on birthdays and Xmas etc)...if they want something they have to save for it...they get an allowance that is geared to their age meaning my daughter gets $11 a week and my son gets $13 and they do have set chores but nothing major however if i require them to help me with somehting that isnt on their "chore chart" they do it rather than ticking me off....My kids definately dont want for anything but they arent spoiled...to me a spoiled child is an unruly one that gets whatever he/she wants whenever he/she wants whether its money, toys, running the house etc etc, they have no respect for others, they are serously lacking in the manners dept and so on and that is totally unacceptable to me

Actually every parent wants best for his or her children, and nowadays there is so much variety for children so naturally they get pampered more and hence get spoiled as well.

Children are as much spoil as you want to spoil them. Children are children and do not treat them as an adult.

i agree with you. that's how i was like when i was young too. i don't even remember a time when i bothered my parents to get me something i really want i always have to earn it, and it'ws fine with me.i wouldnt spoil my kid too...il teach her how to save so she learns how to value things more.
