I put down hardwood in my downstairs last year. I have bad allergies and carpet just makes it worse. So, I enjoy the hardwood. I want to put it in my upstairs, but that will have to wait awhile. Maybe with my MyLot earnings! The hardwood is a lot cleaner.

I hope you make enough money on Mylot to buy the flooring you need. Thank you for your response. :)

Hardwood floors are beautiful and easy to care for. Carpet holds to many things in it and is a pain to clean. If you have allergies or respitory problems wood floors are better for you to have.

I agree with you that wood floors look nice, but in the UK it is cold, so I find carpets are much warmer. Thank you for your response. :)

I have tiles in my kitchen and both bathrooms, laminate in my lounge and the boys bedroom and carpet in the dining room and my bedroom. I will eventually be replacing the carpeted areas and my lounge with real wood. I have 2 boys, a builder a dog and cat to clean up after so carpets are not practical for me as I have to do the floors several times aday.

I can understand why you want wood floors. LOL I love the look of wooden floors, it is just they are too cold for me. I have tiles in the kitchen and they are freezing to walk on barefoot. Thank you for your response. :) Happy new year.

To be honest both, it all depends on what room in the house, I absolutely hate to see carpet in the bathroom, it is not hygenic and with spills from the bath and the toilet it is very hard to clean and the fabric will smell after a time. Same in the kitchen NO carpet should be in the kitchen. I do like wood flooring but it can be cold in the Winter and especially when I get out of bed I like to put my feet onto a nice warm floor.

I agree with you about carpet in the bathroom, Yuck, I would imagine it stinks !! I have a tiled floor in both my bathroom and my kitchen, although it is very cold 0n the feet when you get out of the bath or shower. I have wooden flooring in my hall, but my living room and dining room and bedrooms they all are carpeted.

I think non-carpeted. Carpet can hold onto a lot more dust and thus cause allergies.

It's funny, I much prefer carpet although most people love hardwood floors. I just dn't like the feel of hardwood under my feet. For some reason carpet feels "cleaner" to me, although it probably isn't! LOL

I prefer carpets because they are warm, also I find that wood floors attract the dust more. Thank you for your response. :) Happy new year.

I prefer wood flooring because carpets harbour dust and mites which cause allergies, and wood floors can be easily cleaned and disinfected to avoid same. I do have some carpeting in my home... in the bedroom, for instance, but sooner or later, I will be taking it up, stripping down the wood and sealing it. It's suprising how warm wood can be too, in fact, it probably holds warmth even better than a carpet. Also, it's more practical if you have spillages and such... so much more easy to keep clean. Yup... I plump for wood flooring.

I would love hardwood floors. We had carpet and ripped it out. Ripping it out did help our allergies but we'd done it because it was cheap carpetting that looked horrible. The stuff underneath was a very basic tile. It works for now but I'd much rather have the hardwood floors. It would look so much better.

Hardwood hands down! I have severe allergies and the carpetting just irritates it all the more. Carpets cannot be cleaned to a point that all allergens from them are gone, in fact they just keep filling up with more and more dust, mites, dander and all sorts of nasty stuff that we end up breathing into our lungs.
