I am not very keen on these shows either, my reason is very similar to yours, my husband watches them all the time, you say your dad watched them all the time, did you learn anything from them? and did you mum enjoy them.... Thank you for taking the time to reply to my discussion. :)

I watch that too but not often. I like D.I.Y. programs but whenever I decide to do the things that they are doing I can't. It is easier to watch that to do it on your own.

oh yes, we watch them because they are so funny, often the improved job with the professionals is not much better than a DIY job as they hurry are are not accurate, but it's better than nothing for the poor people living in a mess. It's good for design ideas sometimes but often a bit dodgy. I suppose it's a man thing, even though my boyfriend is a builder and was brought up by a joiner and had to help his dad during holidays or his uncle at the Garden cetre doing landscaping etc he still watches them all, often to pick fault or explain things to me. I am very lucky as I never have to pay a tradesman for anything except the electrician or plumber for safety certificates.

I do find some of the programmes funny and I wonder what happens when the camera crew leave, have you ever seen changing rooms? the awful designs they do, people have actually cried when they have seen their places after it has been transformed hehehe My husband does most of our d.i.y except for the electrics, he won't touch that,he once tried to wire in a stereo for my car and set the car alight. lol Thank you for your response. :)

I should watch them, because I am absolutely useless at DIY, I could blame it on the fact that my dad never taught me nothing, but to be honest I've never shown any interest, I hate DIY, I even blanch when I think about having to put together furniture, you know the flat packs? I can't buy flat pack furniture and spend more on it coming complete.

I am also useless at diy and I find the programmes boring, I have tried to put together flatpacks before but I needed a lot of glue as well. LOL

I don't have a husband, but I do watch TV shows that are considered DIY or home project shows. I have found many great ideas and benefits to watching such shows. I have also found some great tips that I would never have known about had I not been watching one of the network TV shows you mentioned.
