Do you think that mylot can really be used for debates?

Most responses don't receive follow up to comments, from my p.o.v. It seems most people like to leave their responses only and aren't interested in following up any responses or comments on it. I find it's tricky to keep up with a lot of discussions I enter into thanks to the time zones. What's your opinions on this trend? (pov= point of view)

I agree one reason people can't keep up with discussions is because of the time difference..another reason (which personally influences me) is the fact that it is difficult to find out if a person has left a comment on a response I've made to a discussion. I don't get email notofications when a person comments on a response and no doubt the list of discussions I've responded to is avaialable but I've responsed to almost 500 discussions now and it is impossible to find the one I want without haivng to go through pages and pages. Luckily these dicussions are still on the other lists I browse through, that's when I give it a quick check. but if the responses have gone more than a few pages its again a problem to spot your own response. This could be why people don't go back to check on comments.

I have the same problem with spotting comments on my responses. I think mylot should have give you the option of receiving notifications when someone comments on your responses. I doubt people bother to read other responses on the whole topic when it's over a page long too.(I don't unless it's one I've started.) ^_^

I love online discussion :) I always make it a habit to check back on discussions that I've responded to (and also those I've started) because I like to ask questions and, if someone takes the time to answer, I want to be sure I see their reply. I'm not here on myLot to be a "fly by" participant. There are a lot of discussions I won't bother posting in because there is no real subject matter to talk about but, where there is, I'm glad to post and also to follow up :)

I follow up on my discussions too which is probably why I've got so few posts...I'll say it's hard to find someone who'll take the time to answer questions(though I got lucky a few times. It seems to be only when they're very few responses to the topic in question ^_^
