I burn alot of candles and it gets quite costly. I like a good quality candle with strong scent. I don't bother with those cheap waxy ones with hardly any smell. I know I can find info on the web. But I am looking for personal experience tips and techniqes. And is it more cost effective to make your own on a small scale? Please if you can respond. Thanks in advance.

If you can get to a craft store in your area, you should be able to find good wax and good fragrences there. Along with a candle book with easy directions. My husband used to make them. He poured the way into a carton. Then when it was dry, he pealed the carton off. You can etch or cut though it too for effects. Or just get nice jars, and pour them into those.

I too have been considering making candles. But, purely for pleasure. I would love to think that I could make a business of it, but the market is so full of candle businesses that I am not sure if it would be a successful venture. I do have quite a few tips and ideas to offer that I have gathered up. I will get them together for you. Send me a reminder message.

I have a few of those cheap candles in my home too. I don't light them up. I read somewhere that you can reuse them by melting them down. If the candle has no scent, you can add scent to it once melted.

Hmmm...I'm not sure about this. Sorry I really can't be of any help. Although, I also love burning candles, so I, too, wonder about this. I would be interested in making my own candles because I hate having to buy them all the time. And sometimes they barely even smell. And when they do smell good and fragrant the cost a ton! lol.

Well hopefully someone will give a response and we will learn something. I also want to know about beeswax candles if anyone knows about making them.

When I was younger and in girl scouts, we made candles once and I think they were beeswax candles. I think I remember it was somewhat of a long process, but then again, I was young and that was a very long time ago.
