Actually, I did run into one girlfriends husband when they were cheating once. He came up to me and pleaded that I not tell her. I just looked at him and told him I wasn't going to tell her, it would hurt her too much. I then told him that it wasn't going to be me that tore his marriage and family apart, he was doing a pretty good job of it all by himself. The next day, his wife called me and told me he had confessed to cheating the night before. He thought for sure that I was going to tell her, and thought it would be better to tell her himself. As far as we all know, he never cheated again after that, and he at least tried to be a good husband. I don't know that it's productive to tell someone or not. If you do, you come off as a gossip, a meddler, and a trouble starter. If you don't, it's 'why didn't you tell me?!' I would think you'd have to know your friend pretty well, and know their opinions on it before it ever came up. I've seen other friendships broken up because of someone's need to tell. It sometimes seems to be a lose-lose situation. It's a hard call for sure!
