There's a mouse in the house!!

A mouse that I am afraid of - This picture is one of a mouse just like the one somewhere in my house. I hope my mouse is smaller than this one.

I can not stand the thought of it, but I know I have to deal with it. We have a mouse. I have seen him/her twice now. and does that mean where there is one mouse there are more? Like where is his family? Could that have been two differant mice that I saw? I am afraid of them!! Will they come on the furniture? chair? bed? ewww If I get a mouse trap or glue trap then I will have to pick it up with him still on it possibly wiggling. I can't do this. I am afraid to put poison out because of children. I do have a cat and she does perk her ears up now and then like she hears something but that's all. I don't sleep without her. What am I gonna do?

We have had mice in our house before, but I guess that I am not too afraid of them. The funniest thing is that usually when we have found them, they are stuck in our bathtub! *laugh* The first time I found one in the house it was the middle of the night, I went in to use the restroom and didn't have my glasses on and saw this dark lump in the tub and was wondering what in the world was going on. I rushed in to put on my glasses and saw that it was moving and it was a cute little mouse! LOL. I think that we were able to get it in a sack and take it and release it outside. We have had a few more in the house since then. I really like to protect all animals and even bugs if I can and release them outside if possible, but I do understand your fear and I hope that you can do something soon so that you won't feel nervous about worrying about mice in your house! ^_^

You should be afraid because these mice comes form places you don't want to go such as the sewers are bacterial infested places like the trash. They might have rabies. Everyone should be afraid of them. One bite from these suckers you have to go take shots for precautions.

I'm the same way, as much as I hate them, I can't kill them. I'm battling with a mouse problem now. For several months actually lol. I can't use poison, kids and animals, plus I don't want them crawling and dying in the walls and stinking. I use glue traps, BUT I have my "mouse bucket" and I dangle them in it, and pour some vegetable oil on the trap, they're able to wiggle themselves free and they drop into the bucket. Put the lid on, then go about a mile away and release them. They probably still end up dying, from the oil on them, but not my fault I tried :) Nothing to really be afraid of them about, they're not going to jump on your bed and attack you lol, they're more of a nuisance leaving their poop everywhere, and getting into food, animal food, they've even polished off some of my fish's food. Thought we had them all gone, been about 2 months, just caught one last night. I'd say yeah, if there's one, there's probably more. Or it could be a mama ready to have a bunch of babies, so catch it quick. There are humane no kill traps, it just traps them in the box-doesn't kill them. My mice are too smart for those though, glue's the only one that works. But, if you're not going to release them, try the no kill traps first. The poor thing stuck on a glue trap, wriggling and squeaking left to die that way is rather cruel IMO. Good luck and Mickey at my house sends his regards to Minnie at your house :)

it's weird but there are times when i find some mice cute and some don't. we have a couple of mice running around in our house, and what's so funny about them is that they look up at you as if trying to tell, catch me if you can! but what i hate about these mice is that they tear down on our food. like last time i saw a tear on the package of a loaf on the food shelf. O_o

The cat will do her job. I also have heard that mice hate mint leaves and peppermint. I have put mint leaves in all of my drawers. I buy oil of peppermint and put it around, on cotton balls , etc. It is not fool proof. I do have some little electronic devices that supposedly give out ultrasonic pitches that chase the pests away. I do not see mice in my house. That does not necessarily mean they work, it could just be the cats. However, the cats usually cat the mice outside.

Get a trap and go on with life. If you want to use a poison, put it where the mouse can only get it. They shouldnt leave pieces where ur kids will get it. They are horders. they want it all.

you can trap the mouse with cheese or peanuts or etc. i think is very hard to caught the mouse if you never try it before. I also have mouses in my house. I'm trying to caught that mouse using mouse trap but it's abortive. I am frustased with this. I wont to use poison because i can't know where the mouse will die. and now i just use glue to caught all the mouse, using some cheese as a bait

I don't understand what harm can the small mouse cause to you, I know that few mouses in a house can not be bring catastrophy so forget about your nightmare and continue cohibbiting with a small family of rats.

You should get rid of it as soon as possible. Lots of diseases could be given by that mouse. You use mouse trap, if possible use mouse poison but i would'nt advice that because there are children in your house.

Now you know why farmers don't feed the cats. Makes great hunters out of them. You might try holding back, a little, on the food. Let the cat get just a bit hungry. Betcha he gets the idea quick. If you don't live in an old wood frame house, most likely the mouse is coming from outside, looking for food. In some of the old houses, they build nests in the walls. The best thing is to keep a very clean floor in the kitchen and keep the dry foods completely out of reach, like in a metal cabinet. The mouse poisons don't leave you with a mess to deal with. The mouse finds the poison, which smells and tastes great, then when their belly starts to swell, they go looking for water and that's something they know better outside than in. They usually are far from the house when they succumb. The problem is, cats. Who might eat that mouse? If you get one of those humane traps, there just might be a nearby petshop that will take them off your hands. They feed them to the snakes. :)

i just used a sticky trap to catch a mouse, and yes when there is one usually there are more. using poison in a cellar or crawl space is good. moth balls will also help.when you catch them on a sticky trap the usually are moving. been tryin to tell my hubby that we need a cat which is the best thing! but, im also a huge cat lover! hes not convinced.... sadley yours.... cat lover without a cat!

set a trap with some peanut butter they love it and it takes a bit to get it off you can then throw the whole trap in the bin if you don`t want to set it again

I am pretty sure that if you get one of the trap that snap your little mouse friend will not be wiggling once that baby goes. And you may get some sort of satisfaction when you hear that loud snap...

I know exactly how you feel. I get so disgusted when I know there's a mouse in my house, but I also get scared, even though it's a tiny creature, I'm just frightened by it because of it's tiny shape. Also, I get afraid of anything that's in my house lol, especially like little bugs and things. Try to get one of those mouse traps, they work pretty well. The best place to put it is behind your fridge. Hope that helps.
