In India earlier days people use to live together in large numbers in a family. As the present days developments we can see samll families with husband and wife with one or two children. What do you feel the ideal size of a family ?

I think that family size is very personal. Some people prefer larger and some smaller. My husband and I have a small daughter, and we have decided that we probably won't have any more children. Firstly, I don't have very good health, and I don't think I would actually physically have the energy to look after more than one child! That would therefore not be fair on me or the children. Also we are not in a high income bracket, and we want to give our daughter the best possible education and opportunities we can, so we have decided just to stick to one child unless we come into a serious amount of money! I do however think that it is really nice for children to have one or two siblings to play and interact with, but in our situation at the moment I think the health and economic disadvantages of that outweigh the advantages. What do you think is the ideal family size Hariharbhat?

But we have to take care of our mother country also man! It is our prime importance to give the pleasure to motherland from over population burdens. Anyhow on economic front you came to the good conclusion! And it is Ideal too.

Fluffle, you are right. The decision should be drawn according to circumstances, as prasad agrees. I support your view Fluffle, and I too consider two are ideal and one is sufficient to leave our footmarks on this earth.

In this heavy populated country of India, the better ideal family is "we two and we have one". This is GOI approved way of thought. Earlier it is "we two we have two". Depending upon the growth percentage it changes on the crisis volume. But actually in some countries due to lack of reproduction, Govt., offering many rewards to them including promotions. But we are at reverse side of the coin. It is better to depute some women or men(qualified as products) to those countries, to relieve from this ideal family constraints. What do you say Bhatji?

Prasad,You may be knowing the capacity to reproduce is dependant on the geographical conditions of the place and these days you can relate it to EARTH WARMING. The population is less in cold climate countries and it is much in hot zone countries. If you send the couple there it may not serve the purpose, better to remove this visa, passport and allow free movement of people.

Personaly I don't want kids so two would be just right for me but as far as others go I think it should depend on how meny they can aford to take care of and have the time for .If they have the money and time for them theres nothing wrong in a big family but if they are going to suffer for it they should limmit the number of kids they have or have none .

Is it a wrong belief and saying that woman's prime desire is to conceive and deliver ? I mean enjoying MOTHERHOOD.

Acording to me, the ideal size of the family is 4.two adults and two children.this is perhaps due to lot of talk about benefits of smaller family in my country of birth, india.but looking to usa scenario of low population, this can be a real small family and may be 4 kids are fine.mainly depends upon your own circumstances and of course, the economical condition.

There in no such ideal size for a family. It only depends on how ideally they live together.Generally there should not be much children for a couple because then bringing up each child becomes the responsibility of the couple as a whole and lot of resources are required to impart them good educatin etc. Present day there are husband, wife and 2 children is good.
