Well, if the children are playing during the daytime hours, for example, it's pretty hard to tell them that they aren't allowed to make any noise. We used to have this problem with one of our neighbors because he worked shift work and had to sleep during the day. He expected the whole neighborhood to be quiet for him to sleep... not even wanting people to cut their own grass. It was unpleasant for everybody, really. I would suggest that you start by trying to "soundproof" your study area as much as possible. Where are these children in relation to you? Are they in an apartment next to yours? Are they outside and you can hear them? I would suggest that you try things like closing your windows, perhaps a white noise machine that might drown out the sound of the kids a bit, wearing headphones while you study or, if it's really bad, try earplugs. I can understand completely that you have to study for your exams but children (and adults too) are going to be noisy. I hope you find a solution that works for you and good luck on your exams :)

I agree with thinkoutloud( what kind of name is that?) Kids will be kids and you can not expect the whole neighbourhood to be quite because you have to study. I agree with himthat you sound proof your study area and if you cant do that wear ear plugs. There is a friend of mine who have cleared IIT by studying under the lamp post as his house didn't had any electricity. He lived in a slum area and had two room crowded house and never hjad any money to buy books. Studied in a government school, he borrowed books from my brother to study and used to return them in three to four days. He is now settled as a software engineer in an MNC and is now in USA. It takes determination to really succeed, circumstances are just an excuse, an escape route to explain our failures.

I agree with the person who mentioned ear plugs. I'm actually surprised people don't use them more often! Different companies make them and there are some that aren't that uncomfortable. My Mom moved in with us 3 years and she has trouble sleeping at night so she takes naps during the day. Well kids can be pretty noisy (I have 3) so she bought ear plugs and they work great. I've used them from time to time as well. Or a library. Libraries are great places to study for exams. I know our libraries here have lots of space and tables that people can study at.

Yes, children are loud, there really is no getting around that, and it would be an unfair expectation to assume that they understand why you need quiet. You should find someplace quiet to study as the kids will be loud no matter how much you complain. Sorry.. (;

I would go to the library. You realy can't make kids be quite and nor should they have to. They are outside and this is where they should get there enrgy out. Otherwise, they will be loud in other enviornments and then you'll really be complaining.
