This is my first posting since losing my TV reception and Internet connection since Thursday night. Not knowing what to do with myself...I didn't want to go out as it was pouring rain so I - reorganized two closets, read a book, telephone lots of people ( even some I don't particularly care for), hand wrote some belated thank you notes which I should have done last week for Christmas gifts (to busy with myLot). I felt cut off from mankind. What would you have done...

I probably would have cleaned house and watched movies with my daughter. I don't worry about the rain so I may have went shopping or just to look around. I would do something to keep busy. Visit family and friends, crafts, sew etc. Glad you are back up.

internet - internet
Wow. I'm sorry that your internet and TV were off for that long! I don't know what I would do with myself, I am so totally internet addicted!*laugh* I would definitely like to catch up on reading some books, though. I really miss reading more often, and spending all day on Mylot isn't helping me to get back into that habit!*laugh* I'm glad that you were able to find things to do to fill your time. LOL about calling some people that you weren't even that interested in talking to!*laugh* That's cute.^_^

I've had two computers go out twice, without warning and ended up replacing them both times. I can tell you, since I spend the majority of the day on the internet (I also have a website where I sell vintage jewelry), I got as close to hyperventilation as I've ever been. You're right - you feel cut off and abandon by the world. I would be in agony knowing that I could be: 1) in touch with friends 2) paying bills 3) doing research 4) earning money..and on and on. Frankly, the first time it happened it culminated into a "Money is no object" rush to Fry's where I plopped down what was probably way too much for the replacement PC.

It sounds as if you truly got a lot accomplished. Sometimes it is a good thing to lost tv and internet. You get reconnected with your surroundings. I kinda wish that I would loose it every now and then. The kids wouldn't be able to watch tv. They would be forced to play with each other or read a book. :) I enjoy spending time with my kids. So if I were forced off the internet at the same time, there would be some fun happening anyways. :)

Why didn't you go to the library? They usually have internet connection that is free, the only downside is that if the library is busy, you might be limited on how long you are able to use the internet.

well what shall i do? i've a lot of things to do, but after two days that would be done! i guess i only miss it in the evening! i think i visit my family (not too late because i've kids) so from 20.00 hours i have to do something for myself, and that would be reading a book, go to the gym(husband staying home ofcourse)

Can't even imagine...We had some power outages last summer that lasted a couple hours at a time. When people ventured out to talk to neighbors, it was usually only for a minute or two to talk about what the electric company said when they called etc. No great conversations took place. Didn't even have the option of reading a book.(That's what I'd probably have done if I could have) Thank god, it was only a few short hours.... It was BORING!

A couple of years back I was with no power for like 24 hours. At first it was torture. I know this sounds cliche, but I did realize that I can have fun without that kind of stuff. Yes the first thing I did was turn the TV on when the lights came back, but still I managed without it for a while. Just having good conversation with family was the best.

the last time that happened to me, I did just about the same thing; read a book, swept and mopped the kitchen floor, went through some old paperwork and threw out the stuff I didn't need anymore, etc. Since I live in an apartment building, I also checked on my neighbors and made sure they were alright.

Change your look.. consentrate on ur studies.. Keep ur bedroom clean so that your mom is happy with u and she will surely tell ur father about it and it may work and your internet and television may be back .. but after you receive both of them dont start sitting online for long time while watching television.. Ask ur mom first..lol

I got a great kick from your response. If you look at my profile you'll see that I don't have to worry about keeping my mom happy (she'd be too old to care or tell my father).. Thanks so much!

I am currently living without them at home. I only have internet access at our office and we don't have cable service at home. We are only relying to our outdoor antenna for TV reception. Without such distraction, it can be a good bonding time for me and my son. We both read a book or do story-telling. We play board games like snakes and ladders. We play with his toys too. Do painting or drawing together. The activities are endless if we use our creativity and imagination. You would soon discover that life without TV wouldn't be at all boring.

Ya ... that`s so uncool . And the part with the "rainy day" is really closeing the door . I one , I think that if in 30 minutes the power won`t get back , I`ll call and invite a friend to me , of course , one wich stays very close to me , and chat all day long . But if this thing wouldn`t be possible , well , I dunno , I think that I would make something that in every day I wouldn`t like to do if you understand what I`m tryeing to say . I mean that cleaning all the house , isn`t so much pleasure for me . So , in a day like this when I don`t have what to do , I`ll choose to do something that could eat my time from when I am free . I hope that you undesrtood something .
