Are fat people judged unfairly... "Fat pople should be put on their own Island and made to lose weight" That's what the lady was saying as a very large man passed by in the store. It repulses me to know I live in a country that is so predjudiced against what seems like everything.

How about we put all the ignorant prejudiced people on their own island, and let them be their own worst enemy. I know very few people who would choose to be fat, but,I know lots of them who would give anything to be healthy. We have to be extra nice to make up for all the jerks.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's an island big enough for the ignorant, prejudiced people. Perhaps a medium sized planet. . .in another galaxy?

I think it's mainly because of how society has placed the stigmata of beauty throughout the country. Most people's view of beauty is some skinny (sometimes sickly looking) chick with big you know whats or a really skinny guy that's ripped to the max. So it makes it harder on people that are overweight to really fit into societies views. But what some people tend to forget is that supposed "perfect" man or woman may have the looks and what not, but they could be the most ugliest person alive just by how they act. So really beauty comes from inside. What you look like on the outside don't mean squat if you are ugly inside. Oh by the way..i'm not fat, i'm fluffy..lol

That is so heartless and unfeeling that anyone would ridicule or insult any person that is fat. Did that man hear that awful women? I don't understand why people cannot just accept anyone, fat or thin, old or young, any race, as just a person with feelings like them. Shame on that lady in the store.

I'm glad he did not hear it. That was a horrible thing to say, let alone think.

No, he didn't hear her thankfully. If he had I would have spoke up and said something to her. I don't think she even knew I hear, I was behind her.

Fat people are judged unfairly. Some people are born with extra fat...it's not their fault. Some people just have a high metabolism.

Humanity is always looking for someone to pick on. They put Tuberculosis patients in a locked ward to keep them away from society. Gays are not allowed to marry because they "corrupt" the moral fiber of the good christians around them. And it's okay to make jokes about fat people or "ugly" people. Well, I'm not fluffy or plump. I'm fat and anyone that doesn't like it can just stay away from me. Life is just too short for me to live my life by what other people want of me or think of me.

I think it is very important to stay healthy. also it is a person who themselves judge themselves...no one has the right to put someone else down about their body. whether they are thin, fat, tall or small...who they are is their business

I agree, people really need to stop judging others. If you can't be part of the solution, don't be part of the problem.

that is as bad as saying send black people or white people to their own island, people need to grow up and move on from things that they fear. comments like that always come from fear. fear that she may one day end up over weight. just sad really. i don't even get mad at this i just get sad and ask for forgivines for that sad soul

well... I would say that most probably the attitude of people towards fat people is not the worst in the USA... if you would be living in another country, it would be much worse besides, there are a lot of fat people in the USA, so the environment is kind of more prepared for them for example, in Brazil a fat person wouldn't even pass into the bus roulette (that little turning thing at the entrance that you to pass through after you pay)

There is a growing trend that clothes are smaller only fit for the slim,i think. For i found it quite hard for the fat to shop the right size. The fashionable dresses are displayed by the models who are thin;and i think the whole world is chasing after thinness. But the fat are innocent.I've read a report that the fat are more intelligent than the thin.I don't know whether it's the truth, but there is no difference between the fat and the thin.I don't understand why the thin discriminate the fat only by the weight? It's really unfair.

Sometimes I wonder if it's because people are just plain ignorant. Even the clothes for fat people are being made smaller by some companies all of a sudden...Do they think they are tricking us into weight loss by making us think we went up a size overnight...lol

Seriously, people who are so negative to other people in this way have their own issues. Maybe it's a fear they have (of getting fat) so they are experiencing self loathing through picking on other people. Anyone who is truly comfortable in their own skin does not need to pick on others liek this.

I hear ya, I hate the attitudes some people have these days, its so easy for some people to sit at home with their personal trainers and personal chefs and lay judgments on people. Its not as easy as some people thing, obesity is a disease and people need to back the f?*k off

There is prejudice everywhere. It doesn't matter where you live. It was childish for that woman to say such a comment.

That's unfair! Fat people are also human beings, nobody had the right to judge some people unfairly. May it be their physical appearance or incapacity. Everybody is created equal, is it a fault if they have a good appetite or a good apprecaition for food? What if she was the one who's on the man's shoes and the man was the one taunting or saying things against her, how would she feel? We should learn and appreciate things the way as they were..

I'll tell yoy onething that normal people only eat more ,but they dont get punished by those extra pounds. But with already obesse it's a cruel world we cant have any food(with cheese or butter) without any guilt.I have also been to gym for last 3 months but for no avail. They cannot understand the problem unless and untill they experience it!That is the best way they can understand the plight of obesse people.

The problem would be solved, if she moved to a island.
