What food do you feed your cats? Canned, moist or dry? Why that brand? I will be rating answers only. Thank you.

I have one male cat that has a history of urinary crystals. I would love to feed him separately, but you know cats. If there is a way for him to get into the other cats' food, he will find it. For that reason, I feed them all the same. The only food I've tried that seems to agree with them all is Special Kitty dry urinary health formula. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. I've tried high-end foods and all the ones in the middle, but this is the best food for my 4 cats.

Our male cat had that problem also. The only food that worked for him was the food from the vets. Now my mom has 4 cats, two of which have sensitive bellies and can't eat anything but a certain food from the vets or they get sick everywhere. She had to start feeding all the cats that because the other two would try so hard to eat the "good" stuff!

I feed dry and sometimes canned food. The best you can give them is a little bit expensive but much better for the cat. Do not give the cheapest food there is. There is a lot of salt in it and vegetables witch digest to quick. Food like Eukanuba is very good and you don't need to give a lot of it. Remember cats eat meat normaly.

My Kitt - he loves to sit on the deck and watch the birds! He's almost 13 and going strong!
My cat is almost 13 years old, so it's important for him to get good nutriton. He gets Purina ONE for his dry food, and for supper, which is his "treat meal", I will fudge a little, cause he doesn't get much..he gets 1/3 of a can of 9 lives or 1/2 can of Meow Mix Market Select...he REALLY loves those! I also got an herbal supplement from my vet which i put in his supper each day to make sure he gets it all...he's in very good health and i know it's partly due to his good nutritious diet.

I feed my cats dry cat food, purnia indoor cat formula, I feed them dry food becuse it is healthy for their teeth. Though I saw iams has a multi cat formula cat food now that I may try because It is suppose to help with young cats with their muscle tone and for older cats with hair loss and diet control. I have 2 cats, one is 2 ear old and over weight and tends to shed alot and i have a 6 month old kitten.

I feed my cat purina dry food, she gets different flavours ocationally but always the same brand. My last Vet said that dry food is better for the cats teeth, because it cleans them while she eats it. That is why I only feed dry food, if your cat does not like dry food you can mix in a little canned food so she will eat it.

Hello. My cat was fed only dry food from the time I acquired him from the local animal shelter. He had Purina Kitten Chow dry, and then graduated to plain Purina Cat Chow. At approximately age 8 years, he started having one urinary tract infection after another. The vet kept placing him on antibiotics and told me to give him the Purina Urinary Ph cat food (dry). I did this and he kept becoming infected. I then started looking on the internet and several sites advised that supplementing the dry cat food with a daily feeding of canned cat food would increase my cat's water intake and help with the infections. Two years ago I started giving him a spoon or two per day of canned cat food...and he has not had another urinary tract infection since! As for brand of canned food, he will ONLY eat the Wal Mart brand called 'Special Kitty'. I have tried every brand that is in the store and that is the only one he will eat! He loves it! I can't believe that this is all it took, after those numerous times of putting him on antibiotics! And the strange thing is, he was drinking adequately during all the infections! I am just glad to have found something that works without placing him on antibiotics so often, they are bad for his kidneys...what a viscious cycle!

I can see you love your cat very much. I'm glad that you found a good food he enjoys now. Male cats that are fixed get urinary track infections. You need to keep the ash content down. If you go to Petsmart, Royal Caine is an excellent dry food. No buy products or dyes. Good luck with your baby. You get a + rating so far.

My cat is female, born in a barn, literally, and we have had her since she was four weeks old. She is now almost twelve years old. We feed her only Whiskas Cat Food and mostly the dry kibble food. We have tried other varieties and she got terribly ill. We always come back to Whiskas. Once a week or so, we give her a package of the moist, meaty food, Whiskas of course. It seems to be the only variety she can digest and doesn't upset her. She loves all the flavours. She also gets Whiskas treats now and again as well as her toys marinated in a little catnip for 'special' occasions. She absolutely loves that!. Find an airtight container and lid, put a couple of fav toy mice in it and pour (sprinkle) catnip over top. Put lid on and let sit for a couple of days. Playtime is wonderful after that and your cat will thank-you purring happily!!!!! An interesting cat food site: www.whiskas.com/splash/default.asp Have fu, cat lovers.

In the morning I feed my cat dry food that is full of nutrients but also keeps furball under control and it really works and then at night she has canned food but also raw chicken wings to clean her teeth.

They don't splinter when they are raw, only when they are cooked and it was the Vet who suggested it!

Raw chicken wings can splinter and hurt them I was told. Also pick up bacteria. Ask your vet. Thank you for your input.

We have four cats and we think it's important to vary their diet, i.e. not give them dry food all the time and not give them canned. Cats like humans need a varied diet, I mean if we were given biscuits to eat day after day after day we'd be sick and tired of them! We like to give them different varieties of dry and moist foods too. As well as treats like tuna, bacon and sometimes cat milk, as you can see we spoil our cats rotten, oh don't forget the catnip too as a very occasional treat. The brand we mostly use is Purina.

I only feed our four Cats dried Food and the reason for it is when they have Tinned food it does not do much for their Stomach at all also it is cheaper to feed them the dried food as there are 4 of them lol No but mainly because I find it is better for them

I have to have the pickiest cat ever in creation. She will not eat wet food, treats, or any kind of human food. In fact, if you try to feed her any of the above, she actually gags, and backs away. And on top of that, she will only eat one type of dry food. You can only imagine how many bags I had to give to SPCA before I found one she liked. Luckily, it's one of the less expensive brands. She eats Meow Mix, original formula. And now that she is older, (she turns 7 on Valentines Day), I don't want to even try to mix things up for her. I have asked my vet if it's ok, and if I should try to wean her onto something else, and he said not to worry. That if she liked it, and stayed healthy, she would be good. And she definately is healthy. She always gets a clean bill of health at her check up. She has to be the most spoiled cat ever. But I love her, and would do anything for her!

My at had the flu in December and for about two weeks, we had that problem...she didn't want any of her normal food and she blamed the people food for making her sick, so we had a lot of different bags of food to feed the local strays. Then, she went back to her regular food and was happy as could be.

My cat eats dry food and he likes the store brand (you know - the cheapest you can buy) - it is really funny because we bought him an expensive brand at first and he just looked at the food like he was saying you expect me to eat this. I don't know what it is, but now we buy the cheap stuff and he loves it!!

I feed my 2 cats the Special Kitty that you get at Wal-Mart. I tried to feed them Fancy Feast but my little female just kept trying to cover it up. lol So we just went back to the Special Kitty.

I feed mine dry food mostly. I buy Purina Natruals indoor formula. I do sometimes give them wet pouches - Wiskhas mostly. I also treat them with a can of tuna or sardines as well. Very rarely on the sardines. It smells discusting. But they love it.

From past experience- Good chewing food like special chews for the teeth, real meat, chicken, fish pieces and cat biscuits if nice and not the sort that has the cat making a noose the minute it sets eys on them. (I would, too.) None of the vile glop claiming to be fit for animal consumption. No sort of insult in a can, ever. Maybe the gourmet stuff's a bit better, but I'm alwats entirely on the cat's side about substandard gunk. The upshot of all this concern- I don't know if you've ever tried to convince a cat not to eat pizza, (having failed using doors, fridges, buildings, etc, as obstacles, and reduced to trying to reason with her) but it ain't easy...

According to the cat, Pizza Hut's pretty good. Been a while so I'm not sure of the brands although Whiskas wasn't unpopular.

I feed mine Purina One chicken and rice formula dry food (just switched a month or so ago, it has really improved his energy level). He also gets a spoonful of Friskies canned food with his dinner.

I think it's called Purina Naturals and it's a dry food. He gets a little bit of canned food one day on the weekends as a special treat and for that I usually give him either the Meow Mix pouces or the little Fancy Feast cans. I think a diet that's mostly dry food is probably better, at the very least for their teeth for keeping tartar off.

To be honest, I USED to feed whatever was on sale that particular week! But eventually I realized all of the issues I was having- vomiting (orange and red carpet stains!), hairballs, excessive shedding, hyperactivity- were probably being caused by all the crap in the cheap food! Switched to Nutro a few months ago, adult complete i think it's called, and things have gotten much better, especially the hairballs and kitty puke, my poor carpets couldn't take it anymore! Was a big hit on my budget, but worth it for them.

My 4 cats eat Natural Balance and Nutro. I change the kibbles every other day. Once a week, they also get some canned food mixed in with the kibbles. I make it a point to cook for them on occasions like christmas and new years=)Usually it would be fish which they lap up like they haven't eaten in days!

I see that you know about by products and dyes. Good food you are feeding them. Wish a lot of people that owned cats would not by the cheapest things. They don't seem to understand that these little creatures need to be healthy and enjoy food too. Thanks for your reply.
