Where do you think is the most beautiful place in the world?

So many people love to travel, as do I. Where is the most spectacular place you've ever visited? Was it the most beautiful, historic, fun? What made it so great for you? My latest favorite place is Athens, Greece, which I visited a few years ago. It was so awesome to see part of history that still exists in the Acropolis! To think that ancient Greeks once stood on the same spot was pretty amazing. The Greek people are also very kind, laid back. They enjoy iced coffee and a long chat...much more relaxed than Americans.

You are right in that the places that I love would not be what someone else fancies. There are so many different types of environments, and each has their own beauty. A desert can be as beautiful as a rainforest in its own way. Being at home always feels best, but there is so much great scenery and culture to discover in the world that I hope you won't spend all your time at home!

Agreed. I may be from a rural area in Malaysia and move to a city like Melbourne, but looking at the things around maybe the lifestyle in Melbourne is also not that fast compared to places like KL, Singapore or Hong Kong. I'm just glad to stay at a beautiful place like that. Not to mention Melbourne have so many cultures (you want Greek you got Greek; Italians, we got a special street full of them; Chinese, we got a 'town') and we also have the "Mayor of the Year" cheering up and helping people around. Maybe just need to get used to the lifestyle. Cheers~!

I would like to travel to Switzerland myself. I have been in the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany, and it was very beautiful there, so I imagine Switzerland to be even more scenic with chalets and meadows, and of course, the spectacular Alps. And having great chocolate is just a bonus!

Coincidently, I have a friend who is Greek, she is absolutely beautiful and sweet and so laid back, that even the most easy-mannered American females in my life, look like they are moving 100 miles an hour when they stand next to her... She has sent me back some stones from her native home of Myconos, and now I'm beginning to miss her so much that I have made it part of my "Roadmap/Treasuremap for 2007-08" to go to Myconos for a looog visit! :) Now my pick for Most Beautiful Place that I have ever visited goes to practically almost every uninhabited Forest and Mountain that I ever camped in... I love Nature and I hope that She loves me,too... The stunning vistas and sunsets/sunrise that She has given to me over the last 35 years or so,the fields of undisturbed wild flowers and wildlife that I been able to see and photograph... the Loving eyes of Woman gazing at me, kinda gives this guy a clue, that at least She LIKES me, enough... Right now though, the most beautiful place in that I've ever visited in the immediate present happen to be in My Very Own Mind... Thanks for reminding me with this excellent post! :) May your travels continue to bring you pleasure and knowledge! Joy, Abundance and Peace be with you!

I haven't been to Myconos, but I did go to Rhodes (near Turkey), and it was fantastic. Everywhere I went in Greece I really loved and would love to see more of the country. Also I went before the Olympics, so I imagine there are even more things to see there now. The new airport was just opened when I arrived, and it was beautiful. Nature is what makes the world so beautiful. Indeed.

I've been to Amsterdam, and they have fantastic museums and the houses are beautifully designed along the canals. I'd love to go back. I always wanted to go to see the pyramids, too. There's something about being in an ancient place that gives you a special feeling. Sounds like you have had some great travels.

I've seen photos of the famous lake where I think that people live on houseboats or maybe have floating markets like Thailand? I'd love to go there.

Where specifically do you think an American should visit? I've always heard that Jaipur is beautiful. Where would you suggest? India is a very large country.

I haven't had the luxury of being able to travel abroad yet in my life, but I have traveled to serveral places in the US. And compared to movies and pictures & stories I've heard I would say that the prettiest places on eatch are those that are the most natural still. I really want to go visit france, italy, greece & ireland because they have that old world allure, for me anyway.

I have been to all of those countries, and they are each wonderful in their own way. Ireland is so green, I don't think that anywhere else in Europe can rival the color alone. I think you'd have to go to someplace tropical to find that color green (fields and hedges and the natural environment).

I don't know if it's the most beautiful place in the world, but the most beautiful place that we've ever been is the Smokey mountains. I just loved it there. It's so beautiful and peaceful in the mountain, yet there's so much to do in the nearby towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Dollywood in Pigeon Forge is a beautiful amusement park.

I haven't been to the Smokey Mountains, except driving through, but it was very nice, what I remember of it. I would love to go and spend more time there. Most of the moutainous areas of the United States are awesome. I used to live in Virginia, and in the fall we would drive south along the Blueridge Parkway, which was stunning at that time of year. I think that people are drawn to mountains just about anywhere, whether it's in the US or abroad.

Well, I haven't gotten to travel to too many places yet in my life, but so far I think the most beautiful place that I have been is the beach. Pretty much any beach, I love. I love hearing the ocean and I love the sun and the sand! I don't much care for a loud partying atmosphere...just a nice quite lounge on the beach. Im not a big history buff, but I do have appreciation for places like Greece because they do hold so much historical beauty.

I'm with you, as far as loving the beach. There's something magical about the sound of the surf outside your window. Sun and sand make for a very relaxing environment, as long as you aren't in a party capital like Cancun. Some of the most beautiful beached I have visited were in Bermuda, where the sand is pink (from the shells). Also I love Hawaii; I've been to the Big Island, Oauhu, and Kauai. Hawaii also has an amazing assortment of vegetation/plants and flowers that will bedazzle you. I am sure there are so many other great beaches. I'd love to hear where else people think the beaches are great.

The most beautiful place in the world it`s Romania. Our country doesn`t have money like others to promote herself, but we have a wonderful country. Here you have: The Castle of Dracula, The Castle of Carol I (Peles),wonderful mountines where you can sky with nocturne and low prices. We have a lot of monuments and a nature that you`ll find amaising.

I think it would be awesome to visit Romania; sometimes keeping the tourists "out of the know" is the best way to preserve it and prevent it from being turned into a big tourist trap. You don't hear about many people visiting there...why do you think that is?

I think Thailand is a beautiful country, it's so rich in culture and the tribes wear brightly coloured clothes. What made it so touching for me was visiting a refugee camp. The refugees were from Bura and i used to keep in touch with one of them, Maun Htin. I haven't heard from him in a long time, i don't even know if he's still alive.

I would love to go there; from the pictures I have seen in magazines and online, it appears to be an amazing place. Too bad you don't know about your friend. I can't even imagine the life of a refugee. Here I am talking about travel when there are more serious issues like the displacement of people and war and terror. I guess that I should consider myself very lucky indeed that I have the luxury of being able to travel for pleasure. Thanks for your comment.

I also love to travel and the best place for me is Singapore. My own description of that city is that it is clean and green. And that's why I love it. For a developing country with a lot of tourist spots, it is great to see that the city remained clean and so much trees around.

I have been to Paris several times, and I have to agree that is one of the most lovely cities. I love the museums and gardens, and of course, the food is fantastic. A couple of my favorite places are the Place Beauborg and the Picasso Museum (which is like a small house), as well as the art museum located in the old train station on the Left Bank, and then the one-and-only Louvre. The best time for me is just walking along the Seine, enjoying the outdoors in nice weather, the cafes, and the people going about their daily routines.

I used to have a good friend from the Philippines when I lived on the East Coast of the US, and she always used to talk about how beautiful the beaches were in her country. One thing I do think is that the people are very beautiful; of course, you could say that about many different kinds of people, but every Filipo woman I ever met looked like a fashion model. I would love to go there. One thing I wonder is how they look at Americans? We always hear about the insurgency in the Philippines and how they have captured Westerners. I know this must be an isolated incident, but that's the kind of information we get from the American media.

Thanks for the recommendation. I would appreciate anyplace specifically to go or things to see and other cities in India that would be good to visit. People who live in that country or have traveled there probably have lots of good suggestions of interesting places for travelers to visit.
