I think they need to move a bit faster

with their storylines and writing. There are so many dull dead air kind of moments and it's starting to get on my nerves. I think it would be even funnier if they kept it moving a bit faster.

That's what makes the show so original and so great. Sometimes the pauses and the facial expressions are the funniest parts of the show. In my opinion, they could move even slower and the show would still be hilarious. It's kind of like Seinfeld--The Office could be about nothing, and I would still tune in to see the interaction between the characters. I think The Office is one of the greatest televisions shows of all time, and I hope it stays on for years and years.

i agree! the genius of the show lies in the characters' subtle nuances and their ability to communicate without speaking. I think the pace of the show is just right because it's depicting the existential nature of ordinary life. i love it!

You are spot-on. The mannerism and delivery of each character is what makes this show funny. It is not a plot driven show. It centers more around character development/interaction so it can't (and shouldn't) move quickly. The pauses are perfectly placed and I laugh out loud every time Jim makes his face.

yeah well they are just keeping it real, I am sure that there is just few situations they could think of left.

I've just finished watching the 2nd season and have seen a few odd episodes of the 3rd, but I really wonder how much longer they can maintain it. NBC considers a succsesful thursday night sitcom as one that lasts for at least 6 seasons. Somehow I can't imagine the office doing so.

I think the pace of the show is great. They are keeping it real relative to an office environment. Have our attention a spans become so short that a great show like The Office is getting trashed? I cant believe it. I personally think the most recent Christmas episode is the best one yet. The faster they make it move, the sooner it is over.

I strongly disagree with you. I the timing on the show is perfect. I'm a lttle annoyed with the extra girl in Jim's life because I want him and Pam to get together.

I sort of agree with you. Things have slowed down and are not occurring at the rate they used to. At the same time, if it moves too fast, the show might lose it's charm. It's still the funniest show on TV, so I honestly don't care how slow it goes.

yes I agree. I have found myself getting kinda bored with it lately, and you hit the nail on the head as to the reason why.

I think that if the storylines moved faster, the show would lose the plot. The pace is actually quite "realistic" as compared to real life because working at a real life office (especially if you work in a paper company) is a pretty uneventful thing. The dull air moments, I find it fun because it's like you're either in on some inside joke or waiting for the punchline, which never failed to make me laugh. I love the show for its wit, irreverence, and its randomness which shows through in the glorious scriptwriting and great acting. The pace is kind of irrelevant.
