What does Non-Exclusive and Exclusive means? Do you get paid for both of them? Can someone explain to me what that means?

You can get paid for non-exclusive, but you are not as likely to get a good offer. Non-exclusive is if it has been published elsewhere, or you just want to retain rights to it for any reason. One article I wrote I hope to make a part of a bigger book someday, so I did non-exclusive. I did still get $5.00. I don't know what I would have gotten if I did exclusive. Maybe the same, maybe more!

So non exclusive is if it has been published elsewhere. So if i found a really good article but i didnt write it. I put it as non-exclusive. Do i have to give credit to the person who did?

You have to write all the content that YOU publish on AC. You cannot take someone else's work and publish it. Your work is the only work you can publish. The only time you'd select non-exclusive is if you write a piece, post it on AC and then decide to post it somewhere else your self. Posting someone elses work will get you into trouble for copy right infringement. You will not get paid. Do not do it.

I've written both exclusive and non-ex articles for AC, and didn't notice any difference in the offer I got. Supposedly they offer more for exclusive, but also the articles I wrote were on different topics, and supposedly the offer is based on topic, how well it uses keywords, etc. I've never been able to figure out what's going to get me a good offer there.

Yeah, that's why I figure I'll submit things I've already written to get some more cash out of it. Also I'm basically going to try for their special offers, which guarantee a specific amount, that way I know in advance how much I'll get paid.

A lot of times the offer will depend on the type of things you write about. When I write about health topics or things that are lsited in their desired content emails, I get better offers. When I write about the arts or current events, the offers are lower. And, I have been told specifically by the editor making the offer that someof my arts stories would get better offers if they were exclusive, but I am usually republishing thema fter they ahve been printed elsewhere. Even if the offer is only $5 at that point, it's in addition tot he money I already made. And, they pay a straight $4 for college papers. If you've already done the work, why not get paid for it?

Would you consider it Non-Exclusive or Exclusive if you have published it elsewhere before, but it has since been edited and deleted from the website where it was formerly published?

I would probably say that they should be listed under "non-exclusive". The reason I say this is because if it has been published elsewhere, the page may have been cached somewhere online.
