In UK we have what we call Car Boot Sales, in USA I think you call them Yard Sales? Do you love them or hate them, have you ever bought a bargin?

I have fond memories of going to car boot sales with my mum, especially in the Summer, there is a big farm where mum lives that holds a massive boot fair every fortnight on a Sunday, we'd spend two or three hours just going round, that's how big it was. I would look for books, stationery and cheap cds. I've found many a bargain. There was everything being sold from pots and pans to books to clothes, absolutely everything! It was amazing what was being sold, things I wouldn't give tuppence for let alone the prices that were being asked for them. Honestly some people would buy rubbish that you and I would throw out in an instant.

I love car boot sales especially in the UK as they seem to have the best bargains. I visit my friend in London a few times each year and she will always take me to Battersea car boot sale. We both come out loaded down with bargains and all for a few pounds. I couldn't mention all the bargains I got, but my best was a crystal decanter with six matching glasses for only £4.00. It was almost closing time so everybody was trying to sell off what they had left. I also visited Tranmere Rovers car boot sale, but I forgot that it started at 6.00am so by the time I got lost a few times, it was almost closing time. However, I managed to get some nice porcelaine dolls for just 50p each. As soon as Spring is here, I will be heading off again in search of more bargains.

Yard sales, and I love them! I love going to them and I love having them. Yes I have found very great bargins over the years. My neice just bought a 1 year old sectional couch a month ago for $50.00! It was in mint condition. The owner just didn't like the color! I find tons of clothes for me and the girls as well as house hold items. I also run a volunteer program at school for children who are struggling readers. I find all sorts of goodies for them as well.

I have so many things that I would love to sell .. they are too good to throw away but I simply don't want them anymore .. I am not physically capable of getting it all to one of our boot sales (generally, a meeting place to which many folks congregate to sell their goods to the public) .. and I would be far to embarrassed to set it all out in my garden as the Americans do with their yard sales My problem with 'yard sales' is that I would feel folk have only come to be nosey and see what I have .. it would be very interesting to hear from an American point of view ..
