OK, admit it... who was totally winded after climbing all those steps to see an old guy in a chair?

I admit it! I was only 27 and I was so tired. It was awesome though once we got to the top. We decided not to pay the buses to take us to all the wonderful monuments. They all looked so close. At the end of the day I wished I had paid the money for the bus. I was exhausted and didn't get around to everything we had hoped to see.

That is part of the charm of DC is in reality it is really close... the White House to the Captiol to the Lincoln Memorial to Washington Memorial, Vietnam War Wall, WWII Memorial.... all within walking distance.

I DID pay for the bus to take me to all the sites...and I was STILL exhausted at the end of the day! It is amazing though...everything so near by...DC is so much smaller than I imagined...so much happens in such a small area...it is astounding! I LOVED the Lincoln Memorial! LOVED IT! I also appreciated the Vietnam Memorial, Arlington and JFK grave. It was interesting just how quiet these places were. Everyone was so quiet. If there was any talking it was in a whisper. I also enjoyed all the Smithsonian museums...talk about exhausting...

Well, I have heard so much of Lincoln. Mostly from history books and movies. But sad to say I have not climbed up the stairs to see the memorial. I have not been to the United States. But I admire the guy for all his accomplishments.
