great question - i'm glad i came 'cross this discussion... i like looking for old buildings or old structures to photograph/For example: an old wood shed that's about to fall apart, with weeds all around, and next to it is a brand new natural gas marker, and behind it up the slope is an amazing brand new 200,000 country house!

I like action shots, I basically discovered how fun it is during our photo class when I was in my senior year in college, we were asked to take a couple of shots for each categories including action shots, so I had to watch the football games and volleyball games in our campus to take my photos and I really enjoyed it. Though I had to stay under the scorching sun for hours I certainly enjoyed the photoshoot and enjoyed it more when I was reviewing the photos. I also enjoy still life, do a little composition once in a while.

my favorites are abstracts, abandoned locations, and especially portraits. and mixing and matching these 3 always comes up with something great as well!

My favorite subject is outdoor scenery. I especially like winter scenes. I have been experimenting with different ideas and have been somewhat successful. People are the hardest for me to photograph because I never capture the expression I am looking for.

My favorite subjects are sports. I love the challenge of trying to capture that one right photo. I shoot sports for the local paper and every week I get about 8 - 10 good shots for the paper and people really like them and I have sold a few of them after they have been in the paper. But it is that one shot, of the Hockey Goalie stretched out fully making the save or the Football safety jumping with arms reaching and just tipping the ball to save a score, that I try for each time I go out. I have many photos like those except some one else was between the shot and me or I catch the sun or a light in the corner of the picture or just as I shoot the photos another player hand shoots out and blurs the photo. It is a great feeling when you look at the picturee and see that everything came together in that one shot. This year I am working on several projects for people to catch the the student athletic in action. Right now I am shooting a Girls Basketball team and have some very good shots including one of the point guard bringing the ball down and putting a move on the defender and turning. A great shot except the ball is at the bottom of the dribble and looks like it is stuck to the floor. Now that I am getting my photos in the paper people are begining to see that there is a lot to capturing the perfect Action Shot. Tonight I will be taking Grils Basketball and will shoot about 200 shots and may get 15 to 20 that are good enough to post on the web site and maybe I will sell or or two. When you do sell one it is a great feeling knowing that someone likes your work enough to pay for it. If I could choose any type of photography to shoot it would be High School Sports because they are so unpredictable and that is when you get some great shots.

Definitely portraits and especially of children. I enjoy taking pictures of really beautiful nature scenes too. The only thing that I'm not really a huge fan of are candid shots. I'm always amazed that some people really enjoy the look of total spur of the moment random candid pix!
