Can anyone recommend any software to catalogue my CDs. I have alot of burned cd's which are backups of my work, graphics and other general information that I have saved. I have found a few programs which are written for music cd's but I don't want it to be so specialized. I would love any help with this as my cd collection is getting bigger and its difficult finding what I need efficiently!

I have seen several programs that were specifically written for this type of purpose, but I would not bother with any of them. I would prefer creating my own catalogue with Microsoft Excel, and if you do not have Microsoft Office then you can acquire a free downloadable spreadsheet from the internet. This would provide the option of personalising the data columns to accomodate any type of information that you wish to record. it would also make the tracing easy by either sorting the data alphabetically or simply using the search function to locate a particular entry.

Very good suggestion if you only have a few cd's AND only a few things on EACH cd but that is not the case with me I have lots of different stuff on each cd that needs to be quicky located. Now I am looking for a program that will pick up the name and tracks on my music cd's - I have over 250 of those - mostly classical and i just don't have the time to individually catlaog each one.

Couldn't you just back them all up on to CD ot DVD and keep them as a master, that is all I do, I have some thing pretty important things like unrecorded music and whatever that I would hate to lose so I just have them on a master....

Hi Lilaclady- I do have them all backed up but I wanted a program that would create a searchable database of every item on each cd. Actually I found one in the end and I love it - its called advanced disc catalog Fabulous and quick. I was able to catalog them all in about 3-4 hours. Can't do my music ones tho how sad is that - it just records Track 1 Track 2 etc oh well the music will have to stay uncataloged:)
