I took all my files out of documents and put them on a 3.5 disk. Then when I wanted to open on it told me it was not formated. I have often just put the file on the disk without formating. It tells me I will loose the files if I format now. Does any know how I can get to the file with out looseing them? Can you tell me why this disk did this and others don't. Please Thanks in advance

That's it. I thank you very much I'll be your friend for life. I have long since found out that if one slides thhe metal cover o the side and let it snap back ot make the usable. I found this out after throwing many disc away. now you get best reponse.

i'm totally lost on the responses here. lol. i read it and reread it, and reread it again. i don't find the solution here. is it that all you have to do is slide the metal back and let it go? i have tried that myself a few times and it didn't seem to work for me. hmmm. i have managed to save a few things from floppies by using a file saver program. you can find these free on the internet. or for a few measly $$ you can get a full version. i am sure there are places on the net where you can get full versions, as well (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). good luck. i hated losing a lot of my pics i had supposedly saved forever.

I know what you mean about losing those thing that we thought were saved for ever. I lost a good number of thing becuse after using the disk and saving things on it I decide to look at some and the isc has a po[ up that tells me that the disc is not formatted. So what to do. I kept them for a while hopeing to get the information on how to save. Some one on another forum said to slide the metal covering to the left side of the disc and let it snap. I tried that and it worked for me. But I'll keep those website to get the saver programs. Thanks for stopping by andsharing the info.
