Does Gangsterism/Triad Societies Affect Your Life?

Gangsterism is a major issue here. These people, they go around collecting fees from shopowners. They call it "protection fee" They're usually road bullies and are involved in numerous illegal dealigs which lead to the decay of our modern society. Paired with corruption i.e. the police not doing anything about it because they too get paid by these people..there isn't anything much the general public can do.

Where do you live? I live in Virginia and we don't have any issues like yours. I wish you the best of luck in dealing with their presence.

I live in Malaysia. It's a muslim country but there are a lot of Chinese triad societies. I wouldn't dream of comparing our country's state with the US' ;) This is issue is evident in most asian countries, typically in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan. Especially Taiwan. I used to think that this is just some of us, being really Chinese. But this issue doesn't affect China. People are too busy making a living and besides, the biggest gangster there is probably their government.
