I remember in 1976 my parents ordered a brand new Pontiac Grand Prix and they paid $6500 for it. In 1976, my father earned approximately $40,000. That is what ... 16 % of his gross income? I just looked at a 2007 Grand Prix that was stickered at $29,900. That means the same car now costs nearly 5 times what it did in 1976. So I guess my father is making 5 times more each year ... I think not!
I know the price of all products have increased but it has not been in line with the increase in the average American's wages. Who is pocketing all this money?

They are not that much cheaper. In fact, I bet they are about equally priced. The Japanese are winning the war because of better engineering and marketing.
