When my cat of fourteen years, Tabitha, died on October 2, 2006, I was really beside myself. All of a sudden, the house was so empty! So I immediately adopted one calico cat named Waffles from a shelter, and a week later, adopted a sweet male cat, Columbus, from the same shelter. Now I have plenty of company! Waffles likes to play with little toy balls and Columbus likes to bat a furry mouse around. Waffles likes to snuggle under the blankets and sleep with me, while Columbus prefers to sleep on an old sweater on a rocking chair. But both cats are on my bed, waiting for their breakfast, every morning.

That's so true! I've had cats as pets ever since I was a little girl. And my sister recently took in a stray cat and named it Moochie. So far, Moochie seems to get along with my sister's two large dogs, Aries and Chloe. Moochie is really a sweet cat who seems to appreciate her warm home and good food.

Cats do know how to appreciate the finer things in life ;) I wish I had a fireplace, cats need a fireplace. I don't have one, so my cat has to settle with an electric heater :)
