What is the point of making up discussions in myLot when no-one responds?

I have been here nearly a week and I have worked very hard in making up some really good discussions and I only get 1 or 2 from my friends only? I know there are so many of yous out there but surely I have something that you maybe interested in!? Yet people keep on complaining that they are not getting much in putting a huge effort in myLot. How about a bit of fair deal in helping us new ones get somewhere because remember we can bring in more people to join but while I am getting very little response, I cant see why I would want others to come in here when they will get the same treatment....fair go everyone..

Yay! you got five responses! :) I'm still waiting for the one discussion I started, but since I'm new I figure I'll wait a while. I read a discussion today about a member sugesting joining up in teams, where you rate your friends and they rate you, alegedly racking up star points and perhaps more money. That sounds a bit dishonest to me, but maybe I'm just an old geezer with a higher standard of ethics. Ah, my tenth post - think I'll go out for steak ...

addendum - I just discovered a link to all discussions that have no responses and made a couple of people happy. I think something is wrong with my computer or the page because I keep trying to get to another page and the same discussions come up. Perhaps if I used another browser ...

it depends if your topic is interesting or entertaining to other people, to help gain more responses post your topic on a certain part of your interest or in a general discussion

yes that is really true. if your discussions are lame, people won't even dare to look at it. you have to find the proper discussions for people to be interested in. and one more thing, i saw your profile and you only have 4 discussions posted including this one! you have to post various types of discussions if you are truly serious.

I know it can be hard getting responses to discussions.I have had a few that have gone unnoticed or had few responses.I have found however that sometimes the discussions do come up again at a later date and then seem to have a run with alot of responses.Don't give up,eventually your discussions will be responded to.

Most members are having the same problem, I'm now mainly replying and posting responses to other people's discussions and starting very few and far between discussions of my own because of the low number of responses I get sometimes.. You can try to get more friends on your list, post in more popular topics and just hope that your discussions will start to improve with time, i noticed that some of my discussions stayed inactive for long then suddenly started to receive many responses.

I have found two ways to get traffic to my discussions. The first is to make a discussion post then go and add friends. The other way is to post your discussion then go and post lots of comments.

If members keep avoiding to respond those with no response thread, many members here will lose interest to start new thread with more beneficial discussions. This place will soon turn out to be very boring place to be in. Please find your time to look for no response threads and give your 2 cents.

from my experience with mylot, I can tell you not to judge the responses to your discussions now, you may be surprised if you still have responses to a discussion after 2 weeks or even a month.. there are lots of discussions you know, and sometimes that little response it due to the number and quality of members who happened to be online when you posted your discussion.. it may not grab their attention, but may get many responses from others when they happen to come across it later:)

Sometimes topics don't get put up for a while. Then by the time they do get up people either don't want to respond or they aren't up for very long. I have never seen any of mine on the front page. Yet some people still find them and respond, sometimes weeks after I put the up. Just keep trying.

It all really depends on your discussion content, the interest you put it under and keywords. If you use a not so popular interest to post it under, you're not going to get many answers. The same goes for if you don't put many keywords. Probably the most important, though, would be your discussion. If no one relates to what you're saying, you won't get many comments. If your post is too long or too short, little to no comments. I know on that one because I have a bad habit of making my posts too long and no one wants to comment - it seems. =\ Just keep trying =) You're bound to find a topic that gets a lot of responses!

I have been here for about 3-4 days and I have started 3 discussions. Well as you said it, I didn't get any response either, just 2-3 at the most. Why? I don't know. There are many around here who take up discussion topics from earlier discussions and restart the whole process again and find good number of responses. What's the reason.

I know how you feel, it's disheartening when you think you've raised a good question/topic and it just sits there. Chin up and better luck!

Keep persevering. I get some topics that have no responses. Think of topical things that are in the news and start discussions on them.

It is often the same situation that newbies encounter when joining new sites. I went through the same when I newly joined mylot. I posted many new discussions I thought were good. Unfortunately, not many of them received responses. In fact, I did have about 6 to 7 discussions with zero responses. I was a bit frustrated in the beginning. After a while, I realised that we need to post quality posts that attract people's attention to read by being thought provoking. So, friend, do not be disappointed but keep on going. I am sure your posts will be more and more popular one day.

You just have to give it some time and just don';t get discouraged by this i felt the same way at first also. Try to expand your friend network by sending friend requests. Also just keep posting more and more discussions and this will bring more traffic to you. You have to help us find you here in the mylot world just like you did here! It will only get better i promise!

I agree with you. I'm new here, too, and some of the discussions I started haven't gotten any response. But then, let's just wait. Maybe the others hasn't noticed them yet? Or maybe they have nothing relevant to say about the topics we have posted.Takes time, maybe.
