The number of the planets in the solar system is one thing, the number of planets in the universe is another. New planets in the universe are being discovered all the time. The last I heard the number was around 150 planets in the universe, but it is undoubtly much higher. They are just too hard to detect from earth. If you meant how many planets are in the solar system: 1) mercury 2) venus 3) earth 4) mars 5) jupiter 6) saturn 7) neptune 8) uranus 9) sub-planet (pluto)

we have, currently, 8 planets in the Solar system which is just a DOT in the universe. There are countless of planets out there, thousands and millions of them. I think our scientist doesn't have a record of how many planets we have in the universe because, they haven't figured out if how many galaxie we have. they might have estimates but not the exact count.

There were 9 planets, lol, once upon a time... Now, science, has made it 8..Don`t count pluto hereafter. it`s not considered a planet, since it showed a slight deviation, in it`s orbit, thus renedering it as a havenly body, and not a planet.
