July 27th 1992 !! I was effectively thrown out of the workforce for having disabilities .. I went from earning £22,000pa (a pretty decent wage at that time) to just £4,000pa in disability benefits in one weekend .. because I worked permanent night shifts and had done for 20 years I lost my whole social circle of friends and life style .. and I was plunged into a world full of extra pain and uncertainties .. But hey .. I've survived .. in fact I am probably a much better person for having come through such a life changing time ..

It was when when i met my husband;i'd stopped believing that i'd meet someone special, that it was possible for me, but then he proved me wrong, he did call back the next day, and he did like me, then he did really love me and he did propose and we got married. So, yes, true love does exist!

Eight years ago I suddenly became unexpectedly pregnant, I didn't want to be a mum but I was going to be - aaaargh. My 7 year old is autistic and has ADHD, my 3 year old is loopy. I used to work, go out, have fun do wild and exciting things. Now I am a mummy, trapped in the home, only leaving for school runs, dog walking and occassional shopping trips and holidays. Sometimes I want to run away and just keep running but I can't - they need me. I have learned that if I had my time over I would have kept my freedom and my figure. I wouldn't send them back but I never thought I'd be where and who I am today, it's hard sometimes, well most days really.

When I broke my back. Everything changed. In one split second my life was completely different. But it's made me a stronger person in the long run. I've been able to get in touch with myself, with who I really am, in ways I was never able to before. There are a lot of things I miss about being abled, but being disabled has opened up a whole new world to me.

yes I can remember my life taking a dramatic change, it was when I met my real family as I had been adopted as a baby and well after 40 odd years I finally met them and now they never want to be out of my life and me too so I have learned that to never give up and be positive but also remember to love both sides the adopted side as they gave you love and everything that you needed at that time of your life and your real family may still want to meet you one day.
