Left-wing rockers Rage Against the Machine is reuniting to play the Coachella festival in California this Spring. What do you think--are you a RaTM fan? Are you glad to see them reuniting, or do you think it's no big deal? Do you think they're just coming together for a few concerts, or looking to record or tour again?

I think it's a good thing. Chris Cornell is better alone...he is a real showman and I like Tom Morello more in Rage than in Audioslave..

Yes, I'd be interested in seeing more of Cornell's solo work.

From the article I read it wasn't clear whether they were going to stay together, do an album, or what. Yeah, I really like Audioslave too. Didn't they just come out with a CD recently?

I've heard that news today, I was talking about in another discussion. I think It could be great and I suppose after the live concerts they will do a new album or maybe a live new album, who knows. I liked Rage Against The Machine even if I don't like when there is too much politic in lyrics. My favourite songs are killing in the name, sleep in the fire, and other ones I don't remember...It's been a lot of time I don't listen to them.

So far they've just announced the one show, I don't know if they're planning any more. I too like the music, even though I don't always care for being hit over the head with political content... some is OK.

I'd like to see it! They were one of the first concerts that I ever saw! I also saw the Roots at that concert as teh opening act, who knew how big they would've got! On a side not I was looking for some concert tickets and I saw Coachella tickets on Ebay selling for a few hundred more than the original price lol!

Is the festival sold out already? I was actually half thinking of going. Is Palm Springs the nearest airport? I was planning a trip out to Pioneertown a couple of years ago for a concert but couldn't make it, I think that's in the same general area (roughly)?

Just checked the Web site (11am, EST Thurs)--Sat & Sun day tickets are sold out, 3-day passes still available.

I'm not exactly sure... My roomate was looking into going, but he told me that they were sold out already! Who knows maybe there's still tickets available, because he probably didn't check all that thoroughly!

I think it would be fantastic if Rage Against The Machine got back together. I used to be really into those guys, they were cool. That would mean the end of Audioslave though, wouldn't it? Unless they'd be doing both at the same time... That would be even cooler.

Sounds like Audioslave might be kaput... the article I read said that Cornell wanted to do more solo projects.

To hear this news is music to my ears. I've always loved RATM..they get their crowds going at concerts and their music pumps me up like no other. I think it's a very big deal and it's not surprising seeing as they're a political band and our troops aren't even close to coming home yet. In all honesty, though, they're probably not going to go far with their recording or touring. Van Halen tried it, and since the band excluding Zach de la Rocha collaborated with Chris Cornell to form Audioslave, I think they're happy where they're at now.

Sounds like this is a one-time show, no mention of additional gigs. Do you know that area of California? Is Indio/Palm Springs the nearest airport to Coachella? I'm sorta considering looking into going...

OK, thanks. I think it's in the desert, maybe 100 miles or so east of L.A.

really, i didn't know that. then its great! i have been a big fan of RATM..so much meaningful lyrics. well i think this is not for good maybe just a get together and nothing more cause from what i know tom morello is not really in to how zach writes song.. too much politics. anyway, thats a great news.

Haven't heard of any other tour dates, it might just be for one show. Someone told me RATM played the first Coachella in 1999, so maybe it's just because they like that festival.

Hey, that's good to know!;) I've been a fan of Zach dela Rocha eversince, I missed that guy so much. It would be nice to hear them sing their songs again, like Gorilla radio, Bulls on parade and Sleep now in the fire to name a few. I guess it would just be a reunion, Zach would be just glad to play infront of a crowd and say thanks again to them.

Sounds like this might be the only show RATM does. They've got a great lineup at Coachella this year, wish I could go...

Thats awesome. Rage Against the Machine are the reason I enjoy playing music so much. When I first started playing bass I would learn riffs from Rage songs and eventuall the whole songs, and I enjoyed it a lot better than playing other stuff. Also its pretty fun to jam to when your playing bass and your friend is playing drums with it. Good way to practice the Bassist to Drummer connection(very important for a band). But I'm glad to see them coming back, and I hope they stay together because I liked the edge that Zachs vocals added to the group. Sure Audioslave were good, but they were missing the energy sometimes that I know thoes musicians can accomplish if they tried.

If this is their only show, I'm sure there'll be a pay per view broadcast and probably a DVD made of it. Their Web site is www.ratm.com, that should have the latest details on what the band's plans are.

Ow cool, didn't know about this! Thanks for the update. I think it's great, but I'm curious if they are going to make a new album. Audioslave was a great band I think, also live, but maybe you could saw it coming, are there already comments by band members or Chris Cornel?

Don't know if it's a one-time thing or more than that. The article I saw said that Cornell wanted to do more solo work.

I think this isn't really any special news, I never liked them as band, neither the causes they live up to, nor the side of the political spectrum they fall into. I think this Coachella re-unition is just an ocasion for band members to make a big cash flow and then go back to their lives with more money. I wouldn't get my hopes up...

It might be special news for their fans. I liked some of their stuff, sometimes I can appreciate a band's sound whether I agree with any or all of their political message. The article I read said Chris Cornell wanted to do more solo stuff, so I guess the other members of Audioslave found themselves looking for something to do.

hi idlewild. i think it is great that they are re-forming. i am a huge fan of their music and think that ' killing in the name of.' was one of the best tunes ever recorded by an artist. the guitarist was unbelievable with his originality on most songs. alot of the time you would hear different sounding instruments but he was creating them all on the guitar somehow. i hope they will be recording and touring again and will definately be buying a ticket for their gig if that is the case.

I'll be interested to see if there is a full tour, or if Coachella is just a one-time thing. If Cornell wants to do more solo stuff, that would mean the end of Audioslave I'm assuming.
