Even though having a big engine in a car, it is not always as economic as a fuel efficient minivan or compact family car. Ofcourse there are people who desire power and torque when pulling boats or trailers. And people do like to drive sports cars as well.

the people that either desire the torque or power or just need it for daily use are still power hungry. i don't see any real advantages of a bigger engine especially in a sports car because that could get you into lots of trouble and you waste a lot of gas. if you have a truck and you haul stuff for a living then it's necessary to have the bigger engines for more torgue, power, space etc. then you're using what you paid for and getting good use out of it. myself i have a V6 and it does pretty good for what i need. i like the power and torque in it but it isn't bad on gas and i love my car.

I think bigger engine generates more power. At the same time it generates lot of sound also.
