In 2005 there were 1,390,695 violent crimes in the US. Violent crimes include murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravted assault. Additionally, there were 10,166,159 Property crimes including burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson. The fact is many of these crimes could have been prevented if the victims had been prepared. People tend to think that these things can't happen to them. Thankfully, nothing like this has happened to me or my family YET! I've prepared my family and myself by insuring my wife has a small purse size stun gun and a bigger one in her car as well as pepper spray in her pocket. I also carry a stun gun and have alarms and recording devices in the house as well as a ball bat in every bedroom. What do you do to protect yourself?

I got my black belt. I am only 5'4" but I know what to do in most situations. The problem is the situations you cannot protect yourself from: drive-by shootings, hit-and-run, etc. Having a weapon, alarm or "recording device" does not protect you in these cases; not does it guarantee the person will be caught AND convicted after the fact.
