What memories do you remember about your dad?

I remember how patient my dad was when I was little. He always let me "help" him fix things even when I'm sure I made a mess. One of my favorite pictures of us was taken when I was about 2 - he was fixing a hinge on our front door and I'm standing there with a little toy hammer, pretending to help.

My Father passed away 10 years ago. What I remember most about him was his amazing courage and dedication to helping others. He was a volunteer fireman, and our town's fire chief for many years. During his 35+ years with the fire department, I saw him selfishly give of his time and energy to the betterment of our community. He was always willing to help others, and give others benefit of the doubt. I saw him risk his life for others many times and he never batted an eye and just jumped in to help as needed. I know many people are fireman, but what made my Dad a special one was that he lost his arm when he was younger and still did all of these wonderful, selfless acts. He was a most wonderful Father to me and my brother. I miss him still!
