Do you ever feel like getting rid of your cable TV service?

I do, and so I did. Now I have no TV service at all. I get my news from the computer. If I need coupons, I get them at the recycling facility. If I want to watch movies, I have a membership with Netflix that I use. I missed it badly for the first two months, but afterward got used to it and now it has been over a year. It is so nice to quiet thehouse and free up my mind for other things. Have you done this? If you haven't, could you do this, or would not having TV drive you crazy?

NEVER. I am a huge TV person. I love television and LOVE cable. I could never get rid of it or I would be so bored. I'm sure I would get studying done and be more productive in general, but I learn a lot from TV and like it so much I could never do that.

i also could never live without it. cable especially! too many good shows, and news and information. tv is a good way to forget about problems, and block bad things out.

There are days that I would LOVE to get rd of our television! Usually that is during prime football season - my husband will sit and watch every night and all weekend if I didn't find other things for him to do. He complains that I don't come and sit with him on the couch at night - but I just don't want to watch sports 24/7.

I would get rid of my cable in a heartbeat if there was something comparable to their ridiculous prices that increase every year and there's no reason why they should keep getting higher and on demand is a joke. I don't blame you one bit. I'm really happy for you. Except you can still watch TV, if it's plugged into the wall outlet. You don't have to use cable in order to watch network TV.. So, I hope you know that. I couldn't do without TV totally because there are a few stations on cable that we enjoy so we put up with it because we can't get a satellite dish, so we'll wait for a better solution... although peace and quiet sounds good.

Sometimes, my husband and I think that we should get rid of our current cable TV service and switch to a different cable operator as sometimes, some channels don't work and sometimes they keep changing channels. But in the end, we never did because aside from the fact that they're a little cheaper than the rest, they have good channels with good shows.

I have threatened to get rid of our cable service, but I think I may be killed by my son who needs his cartoon fix. LOL We did recently get digital cable and get a huge price break, but I have been thinking about getting rid of it because we pay for the box, remote and a handful of extra channels we really don't watch - but I do like the InDemand movies. They are suppose to be increasing our rates soon, depending how bad those are will depend on if we keep all the cable we have.

yes I m very much annoyed with the service that I get from my cable operator and I was definitely like to change its. With the emergence of tata sky and the other such operators would be better to change to one such service rather than getting annoyed with the cable operators service. I think this problem is everywhere prevailing in Mumbai and many states of India. And as the DTH is coming into the picture the cable operators are going to lose a lot

We took out cable many years ago when the kids were still in school. They would watch Disney channel after school instead of doing homework so that was our reasoning. We still have local channels and like you, we use Netflix for movies.

Yes, each month when I pay the bill! But we are spoiled. The news is on when I'm on the computer and no one else is home. Hubby watches his bike and car building shows. Grown son and daughter, with her daughter, have "additional recievers" in their rooms.. But I do turn the boob tube off often if I'm home alone, and yes it is very nice. I watch it more in the winter than summer, cause during alot of spring, summer and fall, I'm outside.

Good for you! We also opted to stay without television, and what a difference it has made to our lives. We have time to cook proper meals, garden, read, entertain friends. All of a sudden we're not bound to a television schedule where you have to be home on Mondays for this, Tuesdays for that and Wednesdays for another programme you just can miss.

You have to be kidding! I just moved from one apartment to the other. My cable was out for a week and I almost went crazy. At first, it was nice, thinking that I didn't have the extra payment, but then, in a few days, reality set in. I must commend you though. If anyone can stop themselves from watching television, for that length of time, they deserve to get praise. Especially, in this time and age.

It was not easy at first. And all my friends think I'm weird, LOL! But hubby likes it and I like it, and its working good for us. I can certainly understand not wanting to give it up, though. I totally miss the Weather Channel!!!
