Yes, I know somebody who is a priest... my daughter-in-law's uncle is, and he acts in just the same way as most other decent human-beings do. He's a very kind man, with a gentle voice and has a very caring nature. I feel at ease with him when I talk to him, and am not afraid to talk about anything at all. He's only been a priest for about sixteen years, but it didn't alter the way he was. I guess he was just destined for the position. Brightest Blessings and thank you for this discussion.

Yea it seems as if they have this thing about them (at least the ones I know) that makes you want to talk to them. My sons godfather knew his calling, but he said he fought it for so long becuase of the way of the world. It made it hard for him to see the truth in things.

I know lots of people who are priests. Do you mean do they act differently from me, from each other, or from people in general? I think that everyone acts differently from each other. The priests that I know seem to be perfectly normal. The only way I see them acting differently from myself is that they go to mass every Sunday and every other day that they're rostered to do mass.

My friend has an uncle who is a priest. She has talked about him. She says he has a foul mouth, I couldn't believe it. I think they should practice what they preach. It's not good to be two-faced, all angelic in church and devilish outside.

Remember they are humans just like you or me, and vessel for God during mass. They can have foul mouths; it does not mean they are a bad priest, just that they have to imporove upon that aspect of their humanity. Two faced I am not sure I have ever met one like that, but I have met quite a few people like that. It is part of the human condition, one we must fight against and improve our selves. Thanks

I know a lot of priests. . .way too many to count, in fact. I know men who are currently serving as pastors. I know men who have left the ministry to marry. I know men who left the ministry to pursue their ministry further and whose ministry has become greater and better BECAUSE they left the formal ministry. I've met men studying for priesthood in the seminary as I studied there, too. I am a woman and have had several classes where I was the only woman, everyone else being "baby priests." I have attended several ordinations. I even spent some time with those who have dissented and at least one who was silenced by Rome. Do they act differently? Differently from what??? From me? From you? They are people just like everyone else. They have likes and dislikes, music preferences, sports team favorites, etc. I think more, it's people who act differently when around a priest or minister. Priests don't put on one persona when at the altar and then another when mingling with the community anymore than we do. True, when at the altar or serving in church they are acting as priest and minister and have a ritual to follow. But the style of worship is clearly marked by the priest's personality. Anyway, I think its the world and hollywood and the news media that puts these men in a shadowy world. They are just people like anyone else.

No, I do not know anyone who is a priest because I haven't been in church in a long time and I don't have any religious friends.

I don't know anyone who is a priest, but I do know people who are pastors. We do act differently (I'm a youth pastor). We set an example for the people around us I mean you wouldn't want to see you pastor (or priest) drinking or whatever.
