The fire and the wheel come to mind immediately, so let's keep them aside for now. Besides these, I think writing has had the greatestimpact on humans - writing was the tool that enabled humans to record, to pass on knowledge. What do you think?

how writing emerged.i think the root cause for that will be language development.if you develop a language then only it will be possible for speaking it and writing it.with language only you can communicate.so can we tell the development of language as the one which has greatest impact?

Agreed, but then if there were no writing, messages would have corrupted to such a large extent as they travlled by word of mouth that ultimately the original one would be totally lost within a few retellings. writing ensured that the distotions were limited. Even animals communicate in a number of ways and are known to have some complex forms of language.

Ah, but where would the car be, if the art of writing had not been developed? And by writing I mean drawing too, because that was what the original writing was, pcitures to delievr, record information. Could the car be maass produced without the drawings and the plant instructions? Thanks for your rsposne!
