Personal Observations On Everything

Well, not really everything. But I can't always come up with witty and descriptive titles. It's gotten to the point that unless I'm talking about cooking, anime or cosplay, I need to add disclaimers to my posts to make sure that everyone understands what I'm saying. Little notes at the end to clarify what I've implied heavily, even if I haven't spent time explaining it. I don't know if this says more about me or about the people who respond to my discussions.

From the discussions of yours I've seen, I'd say you're just reacting naturally to the way you've been treated. Obviously if other people are going to read into anything you say things that aren't there, you're going to start feeling as if you have to be very careful with your words. It's a completely understandable reaction. Just make sure you don't let it go too far. Sometimes people have to make so many disclaimers that the sense of what they are saying is completely lost. Obviously even if you do write disclaimers, there are going to be people who take it any way they want to. For example, you are implying here that your discussions about anime never need disclaimers. Are you saying no one takes anime seriously enough to be offended over it? Are you saying that people interested in anime are always intelligent enough to get your point without a disclaimer? I think I lost my train of thought now, but I hope you get my overall point.

I'm just tired of people making assumptions. So now I just stick little disclaimers to clarify what I'm *not* talking about, mainly. And my examples were mainly picked because those are the only discussions of mine where I haven't had a problem with people inferring things that weren't there. But you are right, people will read what they want.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. I was just being a bit sarcastic to make my point. If the disclaimers work for you, go with it.

You know if people would read the full discussion before they decided to post it would make a big difference. That way if they did they might realize just what it is you are saying and not need the little disclaimers or comments to clarify what you said originally. Of course I might be asking too much of them. To actually expect them to read the full discussion before replying might be beyond their skills. I don't know for sure but you have to wonder if it is since so many seem to just answer based off a key word or the subject.

You're asking too much. I've resigned myself to that fact. There will always be people who don't read anything but the heading. So I'll just stick with little disclaimers and hope.

Yeah I know I'm asking a lot. Shame on me for having such high aspirations of my fellow mylotters. Oh well I will have to just deal with it I suppose.

I, too sometimes can't find a proper and good description for my discussions but it doesn't bother me. Don't worry, no one sees you here. Just relax and enjoy the discussions.

How sad it is that we've all (to one extent or another) sunk to this! I hate the whole politically-correct movement. People are so worried about offending others that they are afraid to speak their minds! Those of us who do still speak out get vile, vicious responses, full of insults and bile. Good grief people, get over it!

Yes I understand what you mean it does get a bit hard sometimes to think of something witty so that others will respond to your discussions but you have to read through your discussion before sending it out as sometimes then it can probe your mind so that you do have an idea.

now, l observe that the white folks don't wish/want the progress of the blacks;cause they think they , the blacks ought to be some kinda predestined 'minorities' ......too bad for such thinkers though. God loves us ,and ofcourse -every other colour here on earth .

well i do think that it is not the descriptive words that highlight the titles that is important , the important thing is what are we discussing and can we make a conclusion out of it ... so having fancy words dosent attract me at all and my english isn't that great either lol ...

All the world needs to know about me is that I'm as subtle as a turd in a punch bowl. If they don't know that, it's their problem. I never use disclaimers, because people should know this about me. I mean what I say and I say what I mean, and if someone can't see that it's not my problem, it's theirs. I also take everything literally, yet I manage to remain unoffended, most of the time. The times I do, I question rather than jump to conclusions.

Okey, dokey, smokey, Now it's your turn to educate an old woman. I feel safe asking you and knowing you won't laugh at me, unless you are feeling really giddy (and I haven't see that of you yet LOL), what does the term "anime" really mean? I think I know it's the cute little Asian avatar things, but does it go deeper than that? And...what is "cosplay"? I have tried to get into the "pioneering" thing but found out it was an exuse for adults to get together, drink, gamble, get high, and then take school children and groups around on tours and sell the "period correct" thinks we had worked on creating. OK - that's as much input on this catchy topic as I have; but it feels good to come out of a discussion and not have to wipe my brow from making someone angry! ~Donna

This is just how things are in discussions boards, actually I think mylot is much better than others since most people are after money and don't care much to get into "fights" in other places it's really impossible to say anything that doesn't go with the flow without explaining yourself endlessly .. don't be discouraged from voicing your views even if with a "disclaimer " :)

You are quite a witty one there... you almost confused me to something else.. but ya its totaly true that most of the people don't read into the matter just reply to the topic instead of the discussion... and you are very well here to catch them for there mistakes... quite nice i must say.

Ahh I can hardly wait to reach the level where I have to add disclaimers. Maybe you're writing to too high of a "fog level"? lol

Hi. I'm not sure everyone understand what I am saying either, but it is okay. I don't understand what some of the others are saying either, so I ask questions when I reply to their posts. Even if I think I understand their topic, sometimes I think maybe that I am not responding to them as they need and I will tell them that. I also tell them to please let me know if my response is not what they are looking for and to let me know if I misunderstood, I ask them to please ask me again the question and kind of lead me in the direction of the response they are looking for from it.
