Around 2000 posts deleted !!! An alert to the all the Junk Posters !

This is just to inform all of you that i have come across an intresting obeservation. I was in constant touch with the 'all time top users' (posters) list on Mylot, and have came to know that around 2000 posts of one of a user, (who is there in that list) has been deleted by Mylot moderators ! Now i knew that this user was posting some cut and paste stuff from some other site(s). As i was checking 'new discussions' list ; at that time, i was online for about an hour and witnessed that this user posted some 50-100 postings one after the other. So obviously , he was picing it up from some other site, and posting it here. I was concerned about this issue because : a) the user was one of the all time top posters on Mylot. b) i thought that if anyone comes to know about this issue, it would encorage him to just pass the '500 posts' mark , and than blast of the site with all copy and paste materail, directly picked up from some other site(s), thus affecting quality of the discussions on mylot. I didnt reported this matter to mylot, as i was not sure the source from where this user was posting data. I was also concerned about the fact that why the moderators are not taking any action against this user. But finally, today i saw that this users posts have been reduced by around 2000, and i was relived that finally the moderatos have taken the desired action :) I am aware that we are not suppose to start a thread by pin pointing at some user or topic, so i am not revealing the user's name. This thread is just an appeal for all the members, especially the ones who are posting junk /copy and paste / any other irrelevent replies to increase their posts , that please try to avoid it and prefer quality over quantity. Keep this site full of meaningful and relevent posting. Its for your own benefit too, as you might well end up getting your posts deleted. This bulk deletion of postings of this user should be taken very seriosuly by all the posters here. Kudos for Mylot ! And no hard feelinfgs please, the aim of this post is not to get personal , its just to make everyone aware , and thats obviously for everyone's benefit :) Cheers !

I'm glad to see this posted. I hope it serves to cut donw on the junk. I am glad mylot deleted them. I'm sure it's a very time consuming job to go throuhg all the crap to weed out the spam, scams and junk that we are not supposed to post in the first place.... You're right Kudos to mylot !! I hope by people reading this they will realize that they are wasting their time and mylot will find them eventually. I feel bad for the people that respond though, they get their responses deleted along with the discussion. Then they lose out. It just shows how you should also be careful what you respond to. Thanks for your discussion.

I second your thoughts. The very purpose of this post is to make everyone aware to beware of scams and give preference to quality. Thanks for the response. Take care.

True, mari61960, if you respond to junk, you lose your points when the junk is deleted. That should be a lesson to us all not to encourage junk postings by responding. It should be easy for mylot to pinpoint the spammers when they see hundreds of posts by one member with no responses.

Hi. Thanks alot for giving us that information. I'm not exactly sure how all of this stuff works around here. You however seem to be more on the up and up about it. I have checked the top user lists and such before. I just went there as I was curious how many posts or replies and discussions some of the people have made. I still have alot to learn here at mylot. Hopefully, I will learn to navigate around here better soon. Good luck and let us know what you see.

Well even i am just about a week old on this site. I liked this site and have been doing more obesrvation than postings - juut because i like it doing it:) And this obesrvation was something that drew my attention, because it was a massive difference of around 2000 posts, so it became quite evident to me and i decided to share it with all memebers. Thanks for your response. I really appreciate that. Take care.

Good to know. There are too many cheaters on here. I was reporting ONE culprit last night. Also, we have a group going for mylotters who want to work together to report the cheaters! The link is on my profile! :) It upsets me that people take advantage of this site just for the money. I also wish these cheaters would get caught for plagerism by the sites they STEAL the articles from! GRRR! LOL

Hey ! ITs really good to know that you are forming a group of self volunteers to report spam. I think ,thats what Mylot expects from all of us . We need to report anything we find objectionable here on this site to the Mylot staff. Thanks for responding. Take care.

Yes , junk and copy-paste postings are visible all around, but i am sure moderators are effective enough to check them. As far as your deletion is concerned, i am sure there must be a vlid reason, and its good to see that you have so much faith it Mylot, that you would like to get them away with it :) Thanks for responding, i appreciate that :) Take care.

Thank-you for letting us know about this. It certainly is difficult to maintain quality when there seem to be 50 different discussions starting with 50 different pocketbooks, etc. Because people are in a hurry to get their numbers up, to make more money, there is much quality at all. It is a shame.

Yes you are right. Its quite a tedious job to keep constant checks on each and every post, especially when the traffic is this high ! However, i am sure that moderators ofMylot are capable of doing their job in the most effective way. I would request all the members to please report any suspicious posting/activites by anyone. As Mylot has stated, it need our support to keep the site clean. So let us all support Mylot to our very best. Thanks for your reply. Take Care.

That is great to hear that something has been done about people copying and pasting topics from other sites as well as on here. It is ashame what people will do for money but obviously it happens here and other sites. We have to work together and keep an eye on things like this and report them so that myLot can take care of matters. I think that because of this site growing so much, it is hard for the moderators to keep track of everything and they are working as quickly as possible to improve the site and take care of the people trying to cheat.

I think this is a very nice thing done by my lot. The number of stupid posts by the increasing day by day on this site and it was getting very hard to get a good discussion topic to reply on. Yes this is an warning to those who believe that they can make easy money by posting one or two line responses. From the time I aim here on the site I have seen that the moderation here is far better than other such programmes on the Internet. From now on we have to keep in mind that we do not respond to those discussions which we think can get deleted because on that case it will be us who will get affected as the number of discussions will decrease from profile.

Thats a very well obesrved point. ALL USERS MAY PLEASE NOTE NOT TO RESPOND TO A POST WHICH THEY FEEL MIGHT GET DELETED IN FUTURE. Thanks for that obesrvation. Cheers !

I supported your observations strongly. I, for one, advocate to see mylot become one of the best, if not the best, discussion forum in the cyberspace. Sometimes, I do wonder how come there are so many people able to achieve such a high number of posts in such a short time. When I post about 30 posts a day, I am already stressed out. And we are talking about members with ability to magic out 300+ posts daily. I do hope that the mylot moderators will become more and more efficient to weed out such cheaters too. May mylot be what we serious members desire it. A really quality discussion forum that brings knowledge as well as earn money.

Well, i dont think making 300 posts a day is an impossbile task. I think it can be done, that too in a 'neat' way. I have seen some very hardworking people around me, so i dont doubt its impossible. However, NEAT is the word that should be considered before posting. Thanks for your respnose. Take care.

you know... i don't think copy-pasting is wrong AS LONG AS you copy-paste your own work and not others'... for instance, if you maintain a blog site and you consider that something you posted can be re-posted here, you can copy-paste it... same with anything that is not copyrighted in nature.. take wikipedia entries for instance... anyone can edit and add information and there is no proof that information you give from wikipedia is someone else's... what do you say?

I agree with you. I think copy-paste feature is for making cetain things convinient for user, and if used properly, this feature can be very useful in saving time in cetain things, like the ones you mentioned above. Thanks for the response. Take care.

wow! Thanks for letting us know! Its nice to know that mylot doesnt always allow total drivel to spill over into good honest discussions. I do think it kind of sucks that you have to have 500 post count to copy and paste, only for the reason that i have links that i like to share with people (mainly work from home things) and its a pain to type them all out but it is nice to know that even with over 500 post count that the copy and paste is being moderated. 2 thumbs up mylot~!

I agree with you on that. Copy and paste feature is suppose to be used for giving links and not for directly picking up matter from other sites. That i think is illegal. Thanks for the response. Take Care.

Thank you for telling me this. This is the kind of Alert that I wish management would post and let us know since some of us lose posting numbers in the parenthesis and would wonder. Thinking it was our fault or something. It is good that they catch the wanderers so that those of us that try out best have a better shot at a few of the titles earnable here. I try to respond to discussions that seem worthy. Thanks again for letting us know about this!!

My goodness that's twice as many points as I have ... hmm that does make you think doesn't it .. but many of my posts are copy and paste .. when I am having a bad 'fibro' day I type my answers where I can do spell check because when I get fatigued then my spelling goes out the window ... so if I am having a bad day then a lot of my posts will be copy and paste versions ... But I don't copy and past huge blocks .. unless it's something I had written elsewhere .. or where it's important to have the details absolutely corrects (as in a recent post I replied to about computer system files .. ). And I think it's good to have a 'heads up' about block deletion of posts as it will concentrate our efforts on making good quality posts a little more ..

Yes , its a big number, isnt it !! What i meant to say was its not right to go to a website, copy some questions from its Q&A section, word and paste it here. Ay least not in 3 figures ! I think one is suppose to give the necessarity links for news and any other copyrighted materail, if one is using it in his thread. I am not sure about the exact guidelines for 'copy and paste' thing. It will be great, if some senior member can throw more light on it. Thanks for your repsonse. Take care.

Great post! It is nice to hear that some of the abusers here on my lot are finally getting caught. I could have been to 500 by now, but really thought what was the point? I won't be copying and pasting posts just to get my rating up...and money. that is cheating and just brings down the quality. Have a great day!

thank you for this information. i am new on here, but it is good to know that spamming isnt acceptable on here. i didnt know there was a thing regarding copy and pasting and it being blocked after so many characters, but i have been informed, not that i would ever do that, as it defeats why were on here
