Have you ever felt that you were an ugly duckling then turned into a swan after a few years? well i did..when i look at pics when i was really young i was really cute but when i was 16 I dont know why but i became thin and my eyes was so big and my forehead was huge..LOL..I had low self esteem then..I maybe not be that ugly that time but still comparing it to my pics since 3yrs ago,I have totally changed..Ive got curves now on the right places, hair is now nice and straight..And everyone has told me I look beautiful nowadays and look younger than my real age..share your thoughts on this..

The old Frank Sinatra song never had it right! "You must have been a beautiful baby, 'cos baby, look at you now" Over the years I have noticed that girls who were beautiful in school days are rather plain looking as they age, and conversely, those who were plain in their young days blossom into very attractive older women.

Hi anne! I think you look pretty.. I've always been the ugly duckling because of dark skin. In high school I became a muse of our section but the guy who was supposed to be my escort ditched me at the parade and try guessing who won? A popular girl with fair and white skin. The same happened 3 times and the experience really crushed my confidence. But now whenever I attent high school reunion they say how beautiful and sexy I am, and they are really surprised that I am now a mother.

thanks for the compliment..you are pretty too. You know what its only us filipinos who are really into white skin is beautiful.I was born with fair skin bec my dad is half american but I still want to be more fairer..until now im still thinking if i should but those gluta meds..LOL..But u know what sis?when im abroad, they dont like fair skinned woman..they like the tanned ones..telling me we should appreciate our color because a lot of western women pay a lot to have our skin color..You know what i did?when i was in malaysia,i did some sunbathing when we went to beaches there and I really enjoyed it..to hell with fair skin..

Everyone has had a bad hair day or just a day that their confidence level is lower. You know how the old sayings go, right? "Beauty is Only Skin Deep" "True Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder" and Helen Keller said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ... but are felt in the heart." Here are some confidence quotes I liked: Eleanor Roosevelt said," No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. Never give it." "It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not." "It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to." ~W.C. Fields "Confidence is preparation. Everything else is beyond your control." ~Richard Kline And my favorite: "God wisely designed the human body so that we can neither pat our own backs nor kick ourselves too easily." ~Author Unknown

I'm glad that they lifted your spirits : ) I always enjoy a great quote and you might notice that I use them often. I also like to use the Forest Gump "Stupid is as Stupid Does." quote and exchange the word 'stupid' for 'ugly'..... "Ugly is as ugly does." I have met some physically beautiful people, who after showing their true character (or lack thereof), become less and less attractive and vice-versa. This really supports the quote that "Beauty is Only Skin Deep". Thanks for the lil pencil icon, I shall use it to draw a smilie on your pretty face! : )

oh that would really hurt when even your own parents tell you that..its okay if other people tell u ur not pretty or u dont look good, but if your parents tell u that, that would be like a slap on your face..yeah that would really hurt me..My mom always told me that I am beautiful just like my older sis who was always asked to join beauty contests..I really felt, maybe its just that my sis bloomed earlier than I did..and I said Im not that bad looking when i was in my teens..but then my dad went to vsit us here in the philippines and he saw all of my teenager pics..and u know what he said"how come u looked like that?"..wahahha..and then i realized, yeah i really looked bad when i was younger.LOL

I've been an ugly duckling most of my life. I'm a twig in elementary, a nerd in highschool and a nobody in college. But the truth is I never even tried improving or cared on how I look. I'm too busy sticking my nose in books, and dealing with school works. But without even trying, I usually end up being class muse. Naks! lol But nevertheless I still felt ugly. When I got married and started having kids, that's when I felt most beautiful. Some people thought I'm still single, and most can't believe I have 3 kids already. But i think it's because having a family of my own and being a stay home mom, gives me satisfaction. And that makes me glow.

Im a afraid that is something we all go through. Its called matureing and turning into an adult. But not all of are as lucky as you. In my opinion we should not measureing our beauty and how we look, but instead look at the beauty on the inside. Beuty is only skin deep.

I believe beauty is only skin deep, whats inside a person is worth 10 times more that whether the're pretty or not. I'm not a pretty person by a long shot and quite honestly it doesnt bother me one way or another people like me for who I am not what I look like tc happy posting xx

I always felt like an ugly duckling. It didn't help when my parents called me one. Have I changed? I don't think so, but other people might.

i am sorry to hear about that. but i hope your parents will atleast help you build more of your self confidence. not to the point that they will tell you that you look like a very handsome hollywood actor or a very pretty hollywood actress. but atleast, they should appreciate you for being their child.

This is one of things i dont like parents saying or doing to their children..they should be the ones to boost their children's confidence..and what do they do?they compare them to their siblings or other peoples children.

I was a cute kid, but everytime it came to family photos, I would have a fall and hurt myself, usually around the face. Once I knew we had class photos to do and I decided to cut my own hair. I must have been about 7 or 8. God , what a bad hair day I had that day. I am now a swan.

It's called puberty honey. I've been through that like everybody else did. And it really sucks. I had very small self-esteem. I even thought of growing old and dying alone. Well, when you get more mature, you'll even more understand what I mean. Good day!

Well, I have had that ugly duckling feeling, but I don't feel like a swan just yet. I have my own self-esteem issues that I need to work through first. I don't see myself as beautiful, and I know that's something I need to work through. I have such a poor self image because of some things that have happened in the past.

I never felt very ugly because I never focused on the mirror. Hahaha. Eat well, sleep well and relax. Don't bother by all the things you think. Also, avoid being upset of what you are now.

yeah, i have experienced it. when i was young til now, my mother would say that maybe my younger sisters would get married ahead of me because they are pretty. but i really dont get offended because i know its true. but when i was in high school, thats the time that i heard that there are some classmates of mine who have crushes on me and from then on..i know that im not an ugly duckling. we are all beautiful in different ways.
