Well i got this idea about a thread, why don't I have people say things they've heard about sweden. Have you heard anything about sweden that I could confirm or deny as a swede? An example is the myth about polar bears in sweden, that by the way is a total myth since there aren't polar bears at all in any of the nordic countries. Ofcourse you may also ask questions of sweden if you like.

Sweden is the greatest country in the world ;) Well, anyway we have some really cool rules for example that if you have a child you get payed 80% of your salary to stay home with the kid for up to 16 months. Men are really bad at using their chare of these months, so a certain part (I think 3 months) the father have to take out or they go to waste. University is free here and we are pays around $200 a month to go and everyone has the right to take a non-expensive student loan to cover the rest of living cost while studying. We got more neat things i just don't remember them now :)

Yeah when you put it like that... though still most students keep paying back those "non-expensive" students-loans for most of their lives.

I've always wanted to go to Sweden but I have heard it is very expensive, I have never been before, is it best to stay in Stockholm for a first visit. What is the transport system like there, is it easy to get from one place to another? I also heard that most swedes are blond is that just a fallacy? Thank you I would like to hear more about your country.

Is it true that workers get 5 weeks of vacation to start?

I'm not quite sure, but that sounds pretty resonable so that may very well be true.

I think people basically get 2,1 vacation days per worked month in Sweden. So it adds up to 25 days in a year. So yep! 5 weeks off. Yehey!
