Read more than the title of the discussion before responding...

PLEASE! Okay my turn to have a tanty. I am so so so sick of people who only read the discussion title before responding to a discussion. So their response is 1. barely related and 2. ANNOYING ANNOYING ANNOYING I have one person that has followed every dicussion i have ever written and writes a one line (maybe 5-10word) response, that barely makes sense and doesnt relate to the discussion much, if at all. I have negatively rated and reported them til Im blue in the face but to no avail. I wont flame them and name them but if they come here, gosh will I ramt an drave at them. I have confronted them through posts etc but to no avail. Its been months now and they are still keeping it up, I cant believe people actually get paud for the c##p she spurts. And she isnt the only one. Hundreds do it and get away with it? How much do you see it, and how much does it frustrate you?

I must admit that I don't get too many of those 'one-liners' that are so annoying, but I understand how you feel. There's nothing more annoying than an answer that isn't relevant to the discussion and usually poorly written. I suppose that my avatar must deter quite a few from doing that. Thank you Charles! ;)

Do you think perhaps its that teh quality of teh discussions I start attracts those types of responses. Feel free to be honest, I dont give negative ratings for honesty or contrasting opinions, unlike others LOL

To be honest, I don't think it's in any way related to the quality of the discussion. Some people would write just about anything to any kind of discussion just to make 1 cent. Sad, really...

I totally agree with you Megs, especially the little 2 and 3 word posts that are in other languages and the ones that make zero sense. I think we should band together and really start hitting the ! button to report these people.

Thanks for the support. Perhaps mylot just doesnt appreciate single ! reports because i do it til im blue in the face and it hasnt seemed to get me anywhere thus far. Yeah, it really annoys me when the posts arent in English, I know that for some members english isnt their first language and i respect that, nut imo to speak in another language in a forum where english is supposed to be the only language used, is disrespectful, inconsiderate and just plain rude.

my lot is deleting such responses I have seen many posts that say they have five responses but when you open the discussion there are no responses. I keep reporting and I have seen they do delete the posts. They deleted mine when I actually poste d areally rascist topic and didn't want it to continue. I wrote to them giving them the link and they deleted in just five minutes. Always provide the link to profile or to the discussion in you complaint, they are able to track it that way really quick.

I agree with you, I have noticed that too. It got annoying when it keeps happening. It has happend to me too and so I as you did rated their response negative. If they are in your friends list maybe delete them from there... Some just don't take the time to read...

Thanks for the advice, I am currently doing a mass cull from my friends list. It was up over 900 or something, now I have it down to 500 and something, but by teh time im finished im hopin it will be under 20. Those that I know "well" and often respond to my discussions I have teh notify on feature activated but for the others it is switched off. So to anyone on my friends list that I delete, dont take it personally, I am just getting rid of as many as possible, and you should request it again if interested. But im now working on a if i reply to all of yours and you dont respond to all of mine basis...

I see a discussion with 100 responds, which i believe 70 responds are based on title only. They don't even see the first page LOL. And the majority of them is from some "country", don't they feel ashamed to their county by doing that in an international forum such mylot ? Atleast in the early times in payposter (^_^) , members like that would get their earnings wiped out. Great Job.

The only good thing payposter had going for it as far as i'm concerned was moderators and admins that were actively involved in the site. I would like to see some sort of moderation here.

I think it is A OK to be upset once in a great while. I think they get theirs when they dont earn much. You should rant and get it off your mind then go on and not worry about them you have done all you can. The only person who can make us continue to hurt from their actions is ourselves.

I know what you mean. I always try to make my replies meaningful and thought out. Sometimes there just isn't much to say about a topic. But you can usually find more than 5-10 words to say. Those are the people that are here only for the "quick buck". They will never get anywhere very fast.

Usually if i cant find anything useful to say I just dont bother. I find that if it only requires a minimal response, than its usuallya pretty cr@p discussion anyway and not worth my time, effort or energy :)

I can't blame you for going on a tanty. I have seen many posts where people have even wrote one word. I don't understand why a person will even respond to a discussion if they don't read the whole discussion and then have something to really write in a response. But I have also seen it. I think by you giving a negative mark it does help and they do lose a percent by the end of the month. I'm not sure how that really works as I'm still learning here also.. I always read the whole discussion and if there is some people who have responded to the discussion I will even read thru them so I don't write something close to what someone else has written. Isn't that what MyLot is about?? MyLot yes you can earn money, but it is also about meeting new friends, learning, and actually have some good discussions about life or something going on around you... Keep reporting and maybe one day they will get caught..In the mean time I hope you have a wonderful day/evening... Take care and relax and have Fun...

Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful response. I try to relax and enjoy my time here, but when people are so belligerent its difficult. One member out of a hundred, totally ruins it. There are so many quality members here I never get a chance to meet, nor respond to their disucssions, because the "forum" so to speak, is flooded with stupid nonsensical discussions and responses. Ive only been back here a few days (4 I think) and Im ready to leave again it frustrates me that much. I have enough agitation in my everyday life, this is supposed to be an outlet/escape for me, instead I end up getting mad that someone has responded like this, or negatively rated me for having a contrasting opinion to their own. PFT, Arent I entitled to an opinion? This star rating thing sucks in my opinion, it isnt a true indication of ones posting quality, ability and content. Its a popularity contest thats all...

If your sole aim is merely to make money and not engage in healthy and insightful discussions then imo you are in the wrong place. The few cents you'll earn from being here isnt worth ompromising your dignity and self worth for imo.

that was really annoying..They think of getting money from responding. They dont care what they can learn from this discussions and they dont make sense at all. MYLOT must act on it,'coz they are just spending their money to some non-sense responder instead of giving it to those who respond with sense. I do sometimes respond with two or 3 sentences but its a direct answer to their questions... Well, maybe they thought also that they can practice their freedom of speech thru mylot, thats why they post anything they want to post or respond........How i wish i can reach more than a thousand points like you have. Congratulations!

Why do you think they feel its okay? What action do you normally take when it happens to you? What action do you think would be the best to take?

I am new here but I can understand- I have a discussion and some one responded with two words and they were oh oh! Do they really think they deserve to be paid for two words? I want some intelligent responses and advice and heck even a friend or two. I dont want someone to respond with some crazy nonsense that doesnt even apply to the topic. I am so sorry your having these issues! Hope it gets better!

Exactly, I would rather have no responses, or two responses to a discussion, then 500 "oh oh" responses. Its ridiculous. I am tired of rating and reporting to no avail. They are all still here, they are all still doing the same thing. AUGH!

To be honest, I used to do that when I first started and when I go back and look again , I would catch myself. So, I would go back and read the whole thing before responding to it. I guess part of it is people are always in a hurry and don't have time to read discussions, especially the very long ones.

I understand what you are talking about. I do report the ones who keep it up in my threads I make. Plus I give them a negative rating. I really don't understand why people do things like that. Espically when the rules say otherwise. They must think it is a game and laugh. But I don't find it funny. I like the thoughtful discussion on my lot.

I dont know if some of them can even comprehend the rules in all honesty. Take the person in the response above that responded in a different language. IMO, Mylot needs to be more selective in who they do and dont let into this forum.

But thats the thing, even when they sacrifice their dignity, self respect and so on to respond in such a manner, they are earning probably the same if not less, than someone like me who makes about 10 responses a day, of quality. I make anywhere from 50 cents to 4 dollars a day, with no more than 40 responses. The usual is about 15 or so for around a dollar a day. It takes me less than half an hour and Im happy with what I write...

I have to say that in my short time here at mylot I too am very frustrated by some of the oneliners and not relating to the topic at hand. If you have absolutely nothing to contribute to the discussion then move on. I would rather they not leave a response on my dicussion than leave a response that contributed nothing. It is definetly a waste of time. And do they really get paid for it? If they do that irks me even more. Good luck to you here at mylot!

EXACTLY, I would much rather have 1 useful and related response to a discussion than 500 ones that dont make sense and arent related. I dont give a rats b**t about the money I earn. I like to talk, to share, to meet. If I was merely here to earn money I would start topics like "do you like cheese" and respond with things like "i agree" or "i dont know" like tehse people that frustrate me so much...
