Limousines... not just for weddings anymore

A lot of people rent limousines for weddings... but what about other occasions? While in college, a group of us planned a class trip to New York City. While there, about five of us hired a stretch limo (white, of all colors!) to take us from our hotel to Tavern on the Green restaurant for dinner. Quite the splurge for college students but it was so much fun. The driver was great and took us for a bit of sightseeing too! It's so funny how people in other cars try to stare into limos to see if anyone famous is inside LOL Have you ever splurged on a limo just for fun? Where did you go? :)

I have't gotten a limo, but my little sisters did for prom last year and my friend got one for her birthday. I couldn't go because I had to work, she got one though because we live in the middle of no where and you have to drive to bars and she didn't want anyone drinking and driving so she got a limo for the night.

Absolutely one of the best reasons for getting a limo, I agree... you can indulge and have a great time and never worry about anyone getting into trouble trying to get home at the end of the night!

The only time I was in a limo is when I got married. I went to a small school when prom time came around. I don't think anyone got a limo for it.

You know what really stunned me? My younger daughter did her grade school graduation last year (grade 6) and there were actually a few kids that arrived together by limo! Holy smokes... that's really overdoing it, in my opinion LOL

I wonder if I will ever get the chance to ride in a limo in my lifetime? I have even seen limos bring people to our local amusement park, several different times. That always fascinates me, why anyone would bring a limo to such a place! ^_^ But if they can afford it, more power to them! I think that it's pretty amazing. I love how you and your friends got some money together to rent a limo, too. I hear about people renting them for proms, too, but I never went to a school dance.. and even so, I wouldn't have been able to afford a limo. But I would love to ride in one! ^_^

All of the children in a family from my old neighborhood got together and rented a limo for their parents' 40th wedding anniversary. They had champagne and all and it took them to the restaurant for dinner and home again. They were very excited because never in their life had they done such a thing :) It was so sweet... all the neighbors watched as they came out of the house, dressed up so nice. They were proud. I think it's a lovely thing to do as a surprise and I hope you get the chance to do it for your mom and dad :)

I've been in limos mostly for weddings, but we did go and rent one for a friends 21st birthday. We took a limo into the city to the clubs. It was fun! My brotehr in law is a limp driver and he has all sorts of stories-- people rent them for all kinds of occassions. The biggest surprise is that the rich, famous poeple (he's driven a few) are the WORST tippers!

I bet some of your brother's stories would be REALLY funny! And why doesn't it surprise me to know that the "have's" don't tip well? I guess they take "service people" for granted... :(

I think at the right moment renting a limo could be fun but I dont think I would ever do it unless it was for a special occassion. I like riding with my music and things like that so I would much rather use my own car and have my music playing like I like it.

When I was in Navy bootcamp, a group of us would put in together and got a limo to go to the city and back. We did it a lot. It was cheaper than getting a cab. Plus they would wait outside the bases every afternoon. I'm guessing they made a lot of money on the ones that didn't want to take the train. It was fun, something I can say I have done.

Sounds like you had a very good time. The only time i was in a limousine was when we were on vacation and we got a limousine from the airport to take my husband and me to the hotel.

It really is fun to splurge every once in a long while. I would rarely put out the money on something like that but it made for a great memory :D The restaurant was really amazing too! We were stunned at how many waiters you get in a really fancy place -- including one whose sole job seemed to be grinding the pepper on people's food LOL We were pretty socially inept students at that time ... we had a hard time figuring out who to tip! ;)

Ive never splurged on a limo before but here in Edmonton they are pretty common, limos run here almost as often as cabs if you know where to look, they are often used in pub crawls, grad parties, driving people home from bars and so on... I have ridden in a couple limos before,a friend of mine is a head dj for a gentlemans club and he occationally gives me tickets for free limo rides

I think grad is quickly becoming as popular, if not MORE popular, for limos as weddings! My older daughter is graduating high school this June and, after hearing about dresses and boat cruises and what have you, I'm expecting to hear about limos next LOL (and how great is a friend that gets you free limo rides? very cool lol)
