I think that is very disrepectful. Surely anyone can spent an hour in God's place of worship without turning into to a snack bar.

Really that's how I feel ..even at home you don't have children eating food 24 hrs non-stop..Teaching them that in church we don't eat food when they are young ..will give them good habits for when they are old.+

I think that bringing food into church during service is rude and inappropriate. We are supposed to be focusing on God and our religion and the service itself. The services are not that long where somebody can not wait to eat something. Plus nobody wants to hear somebody munching on something during the service. You should eat before or after the service. :-)

Boy are you really tough..no one is talking about hats here are they? Listen if you want to wear a hat to church go ahead but it's not proper..Just like when you sing the National Anthem ..Men take off their hats out of respect.. It's a matter of respect for the One you worhsip And eating in Church isn't proper..since it's usually not longer than an hour for most services.

I think the hat thing..is something that men do on entering any building..I sure would like to know why..they say it's not proper for a man to wear a hat in the building..:??|

The hat thing is a sign of respect, but it is also mentioned in some of the Christian bibical laws. It is amazing the way a lot of the wisdom that has been imparted to humans by the creator have a phyisical reason as well, in other words, when we do things that are considered "obedience" we usually reap phyisical rewards as well. For example, when we get on our knees, there is a study that links being on your knees with positive mental health. Another thing, the laws about not eating pork, eating pork has been linked to inflammation in the joints which causes joint pain. It's amazing when we realize the hidden truths associated with what people consider to be "harsh" rules and regulations.

I dont think it is good. One should not seek pleasures like eating while submitting prayers to god.

I think adults do not need to snack unless the service is long and the adult is diabetic. When my kids were little we brought cheerios for them to munch on. As they grew older, they outgrew the need for a snack and would color or play with felt animals and people. That was during the sermon. In their Sabbath school classes they never had a need for snacks or playthings.

Well personally I feel while praying we should have our full concentration in praying only, bringing snacks and eating it,means not taking prayers seriously. You can eat snacks during a movie, but at prayers full devotion is a prerequisite.

I never attend to churches as I do not belong to any religions, but I can not imagine such indecentness...

God is not any religion anyway - His ways are much higher than ours. Church did not start out what it is today - church was a gathering to worship God, to learn, to pray and to encourage one another, to love one another and share with one another. A building where people meet can be a house, a small or a large building. I think it is good for people to gather once a week to seek truth, you should try it. :-) No judging, you just seem like a kind person that has something to share with the world.

I haven't attended in ages but if I did and I saw someone eating I would be rather irked. It's only an hour ... you can wait before you start eating that Snickers bar.

Boy, can you imagine some of these folks in a Greek Orthodox Service? THey last like 3 or more hours sometimes. Or when Y'shua (Jesus) was preaching to the multitude and the people listened all day long with nothing to eat, no grocery store nothing. There were 5000 people and that was just the men, if you counted women and children I am sure that number would more than double. They talked to all the people and only 1 person, a little boy, had brought any food. Glad he came that day, he shared it! Good thing he didn't eat during the sermon :)

To me this is just another indication of the problems with society. For someone to not be able to go without food for an hour or two? That takes the cake of self-centeredness (no pun intended). Also explains why we have a bunch of spoiled rotten kids running around. If people could learn to deny themselves more, we would have less problems in this world. There are people in this world that don't even have enough to eat once a day. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I feel like there should be a law against it. One of the things that people don't realize, laws are not to hurt us, the laws of God are to guide and protect us. Over-eating is killing us, this is just another thing to tear people down.

I think that is very disrepectful and wrong. I don't see why someone would have to have a snack in church, it's not as if they are going to watch a movie. I can understand throat lozenges if you have a sore throat but I don't really consider that a snack.
