I have just put a couple of things on eBay and wondered whether others have success selling. I buy heaps from eBay but this selling is a new thing for me.

I have had success selling on ebay. I sell whatever I have lying around my house. I also sell ebooks. Right now I mostly have clothing listed but I am working on finding other things to sell. I alwasy relist an item if it doesn't sell and more times than not it sells the second time around. I don't count my success on each individual item, but instead on the month as a whole. It is amamzing what will sell on ebay. I once sold a mystery box for $45. I filled the box with things that I had lying around the house that I didn't think would sell on their own. Just remember, there is a buyer for everything, and ebay is the best place to find that buyer.

I'm glad to see someone else has actually done a mystery box. I was just thinking of that today as I work on my boxes from storage. I'm glad to see it was successful.

yes, my stepfather and i sold a bob dylan vinyl lp. it was his lp, but i had the know how to get it on ebay. i wouldn't know a vinyl record value from a cheese sandwitch. he couldn't send an email so we're a team thataway. you gotta keep the opening bid down, and you may end up loosing some stuff cheap, but you may get good bids on some other stuff.

I have sold a couple of things, but one person is refusing to pay. I sent an invoice as soon as item was completed - January 25, and waited until a week later to start unpaid item dispute. She marked them as payment sent on 4th Feb, which was Sunday. Said she paid cash. Everyone knows you don't send cash through the mail. My stuff says paypal only, and now I am in a shitfight with her about it. I just wanted to get rid of a couple of things, but it is causing a bit of a problem. She said I won't combine postage, but she did not ask about that. She left negative feedback for all three items.

Thanks for the insight Bel. I have sold 2 items so far since posting this discussion. Haven't checked if they paid yet. I'll be on guard though. Hope it works out for you.

I used to sell lots of stuff on eBay. However, as most of the buyers were from outside Ireland, and our postage rates went through the roof, it wasn't feasable to sell anymore. I still buy lots of dvds and stuff on eBay, but I always have to remember to check the postage costs, as some sellers are inclined to charge more than double the actual cost.

I know what you mean with the postage rates. I will only be selling within Australia as it is too expensive to post overseas. Thanks for the comments.

I've been selling for a couple of months. I just started getting serious about sitting down and getting things listed though. I've sold 4 things, and one buyer hasn't paid yet - the biggest sale, too - but I'm going to keep going at it. I don't like how much the fees total out of each sale, but I'm trying not to really look at that. The way I see it, all the stuff is things that I don't need or would toss out or give to the Salvation Army. So it's all new money for me.

I agree with you. I have just got the selling bug now and wish I hadn't given away so much stuff when we moved interstate. Oh well, I'm enjoying the experience now though.

ive sold stuff i think sometimes its the timing in which you sell it like if you want to sell a prom dress try and sell them closer to april when people are looking for dresses or if selling an electronic sell it towards the end of the week b/c most people but stuff over the weekend when they have time to look at it thats how i always sold everything i offered

In the past I have bought quite a bit from e-bay and so far have sold 2 items. But recently I am into buying novels and have just bought some so will be stocked up for awhile now and they were a good price as well!

I have spent most of today on there I have to admit. I have bought a heap of clothes for my 12 yr ol daughter as there is no way I could afford brand names at full prices. We picked up some bargains...

I have been a seller of my art on Ebay for 5 years. But now with all the fees and so forth, I am selling very little, and moving on. Sales are going down for the first time too. Good luck to you.

I've just started selling and sold 5 things. My biggest issue was learning how to do the shipping fees. But once I figured out that, I'm ok. I don't know all the details needed to do a good business, but I'm learning. I am surprised that I have so many items not sell. I guess I expected people to jump all over my stuff. But they'll watch it and not bid. Makes me wonder if I'm overpricing, or what. And I do research beforehand to see what similar things sell for. Oh well, I'll keep trying. Good luck!

Well I ghave sold everything that I originally put on e Bay and the postage was the biggest drama for me too. I didn't want it to be too much but then it is not cheap to send stuff either so it is hard. Thanks for your input.
