I am a baptist. I was baptized when I was 21. when were you baptized and what was your experience? I remember my friend told me to wear a white dress, so I borrowed it from her. I felt peace, love and commitment to God.

I was around 30 when I was baptized. I felt fresh and clean and so very close to the Lord.

That's good to hear. When you feel like that, that means you are under the Lord's care.

As far back as I can remember, I was brought to church ever Sunday by my parents and I am still there. My parents had me baptised as a baby but later when I was in my late teens I made the decision to confirm the baptism - I think I was around 18 to 19 yrs of age then. It was a solemn occasion for me because to me it marked my commitment to Jesus for the rest of my life. I wore my Sunday best and the pastor put his hand in water and sprinkled it on my head, said a prayer. I think it was an awesome experience, the thots and feelings that ran through me then. God bless.

I was baptized when I was 1 month old. That's usually the practice here in our country. I was baptized as a Catholic and although I don't practice much of the religion, I don't have any plans on revoking that religion. Im not a person of religion anyway. As long as I have my personal faith in God, I know I'd go well.

This is true, Having a personal faith in Jesus and believing in him as our personal savior is all it matters. Being baptized is an obedience to God as a result of our belief in him.

You know, I was also baptized when I was a baby in a Catholic church but when I grew up and knew Jesus in my heart, I made the decision to get baptized again in obedience to him.

I was 1. My parents took me to Catholic church. I am not into religion anymore. I believe that God exists but humans make mistakes regardless we are religious or not. The church over here is really different from churches in my homeland. The horrible things that the priests did were all on the newspapers. In my country, the worst thing that happened would be that the priests left the church and got married.

In my religion, pastors get married, that's normal. But I know catholic church don't accept marriage in priests. I was baptized when I was a baby in a catholic church but when I grew up I made the decision to baptize myself as an obedience to God since I accepted Jesus as my personal savior.

I was baptized 32 years ago, a year after I had accepted Jesus for real. I grew up in (and sometimes out of) a pentecostal church, but had never really known God until then. I will never forget it.

That's good that you remember when you were baptized. I know I was baptized in May of 1980 but I don't remember exactly what day.

I was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church when I was a baby with a godfather and a godmother but when I was taught of God, I was baptized into Christ when I was 15 years old, still young for some people, but the Lord Jesus was already discussing in the temple when He was 12 years old.

I was raised to go to chruch all my life but I was not baptized till I had children of my own. It was in Feb 1993. Both my daughters were baptized the next month and my husband was baptized the following year. I felt peace and forgiveness and I knew it was the right thing to do and the right time to do it. I also knew it was the right church. I still feel that same peace. It has made a wonderful difference in my life and I have never regretted it.

That's good to hear. This peace is the peace that just Jesus gives us. You feel you are obedient to God and he blesses us for this decision.

I wasn't baptized until I was 18. I'm also Baptist and believe you are not baptized until you are old enough to know what you are doing and what it symbolizes. I went to church camp that summer and asked Jesus into my heart and made a promise to live my life for him. When I got home, our church celebrated this fact (along with some other teens who had made the same decision). Then the pastor came to talk to me and we discussed the next step of being baptized in the church and why it was important within my faith. So I was baptized and it was beautiful and loving and I'm so glad I was able to be baptized by that pastor because he was one of the most wonderful people I knew and he shaped my life so much during that time. He has since passed away and I miss him and his guidance dearly. My husband is Catholic and when my son was young, he wanted to baptize him in the Catholic church. I allowed him to do it but I will allow my son to be baptized in my church when he is ready.

I have been baptized 2 times. The first time I was 46 and it was a very emotional and spiritual experience for me. I truely felt my sins washed away, like I was a new person, and have since been experiencing a new life. It's much more detailed and you can read the whole story on this web page of my site: http://byfaithonly.com/baptism.html I should warn you though I've been doing some reorganizing on the site and noticed just now some of the graphics for the page are missing (not missing totally, I just moved them and didn't make the proper changes) On the list to-do. The second baptism was on the insistance of my then fiance now ex-fiance. His church said my first baptism wasn't "right" and I needed to do it their way. I was "young" then and have since learned much more. I didn't feel the spiritual experience the second time I did with the first.

I am just so very thankful to the Lord that He didn't give up on me. I like to put it this way, all my life He was tap tap tapping me on the shoulder. I guess one day He had had enough and smacked up aside of the head with a pillow. He got my attention and I've been doing my best ever since to come closer to Him.

I read your baptismal story and it's very touching. I am happy for you, the Lord has many ways of letting us know that we need him and he wants the best for us. Being baptized is as an act of obedience. I love Jesus with all my heart and strenght and want to serve him all my life.

I was baptized when I was three months old.. That was March 28, 1978.. I know the date cos it was my aunt's 18th birthday, and my Papa intentionally scheduled my baptism on that day to save money for the celebration.. And I've been told that my aunt was really upset that time cos I had more guests than her and most of the food were eaten by those who came for my baptism.. What a shrewd brother my father was.. Hehe..

I was baptized when I was eight years old. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe that a child is not accountable for sins prior to the age of 8. However, I understand why many faiths elect to baptize (or christen, etc.) earlier. Baptism is an important ordinance. I own a boutique store, and I sell baptism dresses for older girls (http://mayleesboutique.com/lds-baptism-dresses-c-19) as well as christening gowns (http://mayleesboutique.com/christening-gowns-c-15) for younger girls.
