Trading garden bountys.

I have heard of people growing a large garden of a few items and trading the extras for other items from other gardeners. I see the goodand bad of it. I know when you plant 50 ears of corn you get small ears but if you have 1000 you get good ears of corn. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this, or if you even know how to start something like this. I would love to tem up with some more people who want to grow food save money like me. Any Ideas?

I just had an idea! Some towns have community gardens where members of the neighborhood can get work a small plot of land and grow vegetables. When I lived in Boulder, CO (a million years ago!) I saw several of them. My suggestion is to see if your community has a program like this and then see if you can swap with your plot-mates! And, for the record, I would totally do this- but maybe on not as big a scale as you're thinking. You don't happen to live in New Mexico do you? ;)

That is how a lot of people survived the depression during the 1930's...they shared...sadly, not that many people want to do that anymore. I think your idea is terrific! I am writing a book on frugal living at the moment so I am looking for great ideas such as yours :-)

You are writing a book on frugal living? How fantastic. I really think we, and by we I mean all of us, would really be happier if we embraced a more frugal lifestyle. Let me know when your book comes out. I am really excited for it.
