For my grandson we had the theme: heavy equipment. He LOVES to watch them, front end loaders, mixer trucks, bulldozers and all. So for his last birthday we went with that for a theme. We had a separate cake for the adults, and a mini cake for him. The mini cake was decorated on top with little match box sized heavy equipment, and the road was made out of crushed oreos, with a pile of crushed oreos with the front end loader having some in it's scoop. Man, did he ever get excited when he saw that! It was a good thing we went for separate cakes, because as soon as we helped him blow out his candles, he started excavating the cake. It was a total mess on the top of the cake when he was done and ready to eat a piece, but what a fun photo opportunity! All the cups and paper plates had excavators on them, and a paper table cloth with the theme too. Whatever they're fascinated with at the moment usually makes a good theme. Dora The Explorer is a fun theme! There's so much you can do with that! I'll bet it she loved it!
