how many hours do you sleep aday, what is the ideal number of sleeping hrs?

Do you love sleeping,about me i avoid to sleep more than 8 hrs aday and this make me feel active all the day. I think the ideal number for sleeping is: 1-for adults between 6-8 hrs. 2-for children 8 hrs or more. i heared before that sleeping more that 9 hrs aday is harmful.

I suffer from chronic insomnia so if I get 4 hours a night I am doing good. I would love to sleep 6 to 8 hours but haven't been that lucky for more years than I care to remember.

Naa I am as healthy as can be my insomnia is a symptom of PTSD due to repeated long term abuse. The flashbacks and nightmares tend to make sleep more of a enemy than a friend..but thank you.

I guess you have to check this with adoctor cause sometimes insomnia is aresult of acertain problem (i say sometimes).

i sleep a maximum of seven hours and after that i wake up automatically,,,,, its all up in the mind and everything can be controlled according to ones own desire,,, the basic theme is the balance of body and the balance of mind.......

My ideal amount of sleep is 6 hours per day. And I sleep just that. If i go less than that I feel sleepy during the course of the day. And if I go over that my head hurts like hell.

I tend to have about 7 hours sleep a night. However it can be disturbed sometimes because of my kids so some nights I need a bit more. My kids sleep between 11 and 12 hours a night most nights. I think you definitely need less sleep as you get older and sleeping too much, although not harmful, is a big waste of time.

Sleeping hours vary from person to person, I sleep for about 6 hrs and I think you are right 6-8 is ideal for adults.sleeping more that 9hrs is harmful as it makes you a zombie, you are not very active if you sleep more that is what happens to me when I sleep more.

i sleep only for 5 hrs or maximum of 6 hours, because i am taking care of my four month old baby during night time, and i work during the day. i need more sleeping hours, but i cannot do it. i wish to have day off so that i can sleep the whole day without interruption. good day to you,,,

I sleep 5-7 hours on weekdays and on weekends i sleep about 12 hours.I dont think so though that sleeping more than 9 hours is harmful.I know someone who needs to get 10 hours of sleep a day to feel better.

(10 hrs aday)is more but some people really needs this amount of sleeping. about harm, i won't list but i'll ask you if you can sleep no more than these hrs is it waste and harm for your time or not.

I sleep with an average of 7 hours a day but I think the ideal is 8 hours a day.

yeah, i also heard about the numbers of hours a person should sleep. but if you exceed 9 hours, is it really dangerous or unusual? because in my case, there are times when i don't get enough sleep, so when i have the chance, i try to sleep as much as i can.i can even sleep for 10+ hours.

Don't worry cause as i answered before some people store the sleeping hrs to next days and, about sleeping more that 9 hrs it's harm only if you always do this as i heard before from many sources.

i don't know what is the ideal # of sleeping hours, in my case i only sleeps for 5-7 hrs more than that i feel lazy and sleepy all day long. i think it depends on a person's body, because my husband sleeps about 8-10hrs or more (if he got time though)

You are right, it depends on the body but this for the majority cause they made it by experiments on more people with different cases.
