Can you be addicted to lip balm?

Yes, ok, I confess, I believe I am addicted to lipbalm. It's never out of my pocket, I have pots and tubes all over the house and it drives people insane. I go through so much of the stuff! So would you say it's possible to be addicted to lipbalm? Discuss x

Yes, i think you can become addicted to having the taste of certain lip balms on your lips, and be addicted to the effect/feeling of having lip balm on your lips. What i've often found is that you put a nice tasting lip balm on then you subconciously start to lick it off, leaving your lips dryer than before you put it on, so then of course you put more on, then lick it off, and it becomes a cycle. I try not to use it too often so that i don't get into that cycle, or i try to use non-flavoured lip balms so that i won't be tempted to lick it off!

I think I've become addicted to using lipbalm. I have dozens of different ones. I don't think it's the ingredients in them that I am "addicted" to, but just the feeling of having something waxy and soothing on my lips. Now, I am not used to the way my lips feel without having some kind of lipbalm on my lips.

I think there have been studies done that indicate that if you constantly use lip balm your lips stop producing their own oils/barriers/whatever its called, and that you become so unused to the feel of your lips without a waxy coating that you dislike feeling them without. Having said that, I don't think its a problem as such, as long as you accept that if you are a constant lip balm user you probably always will be. You can reduce the amount you use, and choose only those with all natural ingredientsto reduce the drying feeling caused by going without a sythetic or highly perfumed one for a while

I know a guy who was always using chapstick. I think after a while your lips just get used to the constant application. I am never without lipbalm, although I usually only have one tube of it at a time.

I will never get addicted to lipbalm because I had never like using it. There is some possibility that you will get addicted to Lipbalm but I think it is more of a mannerism already. I think you get used to it already that you will never last a day without it. It is more of an attachment to something. I think such lipbalm is giving you security that you will never last a day without it.
